Description

If you’ve been looking for a solution to your moss problem, we hope this blog post has given you some ideas. Whether it is boiling water or vinegar and water, there are many different solutions, from home remedies to commercial products, that can wash away the pesky plant from driveways. Simply fill up your pressure washer, aim the nozzle at the moss and let her rip. Be sure to keep the nozzle moving to avoid damaging the tarmac. Vinegar is an excellent alternative to dedicated moss killers and can be highly effective if used properly. Both white vinegar and apple cider vinegar will work and can be applied directly to the moss without any prior mixing with other ingredients. Potassium based moss killers are less likely to stain your driveway, though they take longer to kill moss.

Another handy way to kill moss at the root is to apply a little hydrated lime to the moss affected areas of your outdoor surface. Either mix the substance with a bit of water to produce an easy to apply moss killer spray or sprinkle a little powder directly onto the area. Alternatively, you can use household bleach to get rid of moss; however, you need to be careful as it can stain some surfaces and kill surrounding greenery. This moss killer comes as a concentrate in a 5 litre bottle for around 30 pounds in the UK. The recommended dilution is one part concentrate to one part water, and after a little bit of calculation I worked out that a five litre bottle should cover an area of about 200 square metres or so. If you already have a granule fertiliser spreader, you may be more comfortable with granular moss killer. Equally, if you normally use a liquid sprayer when fertilising, or have a watering can with a fine-holed rose, it might suit you better to use liquid moss killer. Apply the baking soda to the affected area and allow it to work into the moss for a few hours. It’s best to do this on a dry day, as any moisture present in damp areas can prevent the baking soda from working as an efficient moss killer.Top of the agenda when selecting the most appropriate moss killer should be the expected coverage of your chosen product. Most moss killers can be diluted to produce a larger quantity of usable product, but if the concentrated killer is relatively weak, to begin with, you may end up with a functionally useless formula.

Temporarily getting rid of moss is easy. A stiff brush or power washer is enough to clear it from the driveway. As with all the other products above, baking soda is bad for your lawn and other plants. Be careful when applying it. Don’t apply it when it’s raining or about to rain as the water could wash it onto your lawn, killing grass. Boiling Water
