About this deal

The Adventurer 4 offers an average print speed compared to other 3D printers we’ve tested. Our Thinker test model took between 3 hours and just more than 10 to print, depending on the size of the print nozzle you use.

The only lighting inside the Adventurer 4 is a single LED on the print head, so you don’t see that much via the camera unless there are other lights on. I ended up putting a small LED aquarium light on the top of the printer to provide more illumination. Once you've gotten to that point, press Next on the screen, and the machine will start feeding the filament into the tube and eventually out of the heated nozzle. Press Complete on the screen, and you're done and ready to print. This software is used to prepare prints for your printer. Once selecting the Flashforge Adventurer 4 as my printer within the software, it scanned my network to find the printer. Once that was done, the software knew what the available build area was and all of the other parameters of the printer. The ability to select a different mode exists, but is grayed out in the UI and cannot be changed. Considering that FlashPrint 5 is intended to be an easy-to-use software, only including a single profile and requiring users to build their own puts the software in an awkward place. It’s too stripped-down for power users, and beginners will almost immediately outgrow the basic capabilities. Last but not least, the Adventurer 4 is controlled via a 4.3-inch touchscreen situated on the front panel. This intuitive interface makes navigating the Adventurer 4’s menus a breeze.

While the Adventurer 4 isn't the cheapest printer on the market, it is a very good choice for beginners. Thanks to the enclosed design of the machine, the printing area stays free of dust, temperatures are better regulated, and fumes are nearly non-existent. The high build quality and self-leveled build platform make this printer ready to go out of the box, aside from potentially needing to calibrate the nozzle. I also had issues with Wi-Fi connectivity. On the FlashForge Adventurer 4. For unknown reasons, this printer refused to connect to my Wi-Fi network. After numerous attempts and ensuring that the passphrase was correctly entered, I gave up and used the wired ethernet connection instead, which worked without issues. FlashForge Adventurer 4 review: Swappable print nozzles That’s a significant hassle, and it is possible to use the wrong nozzle without realizing it: the printer does not detect the type of nozzle installed and will try and print with a different one to the specified one installed.

If you’re on a budget and seeking your next low-volume prototyping system, you’d do well to go for the FlashForge Adventurer 4. The latest addition to the FlashForge USA portfolio is the Adventurer 4. Intended as a successor to the previously launched Adventurer 3, the single extruder FDM system comes complete with several feature upgrades that make it an iteration worthy of attention. For the more advanced users out there, FlashForge does of course provide an ‘expert mode’ too, where the full range of print parameters can be tinkered with. This includes cooling profiles, speeds, infills, and even LED colors. The combination of swappable print nozzles and a heated print bed means that the Adventurer 4 can handle a huge range of materials, from the standard PLA and ABS to more exotic materials like medical-grade Nylon, PETG or transparent materials such as T-Glase. The printer’s nozzles work up to 265℃, while the heated print bed can go up to 110℃, which also increases the number of printer materials the Adventurer 4 can support.
