And that’s before you get to the video capabilities, which is another area where the S10 Plus excels. It’s able not only to shoot stabilised footage in 4K resolution at 60fps but also capture HDR10+ clips for video with improved dynamic range and ultra slow-motion footage, as well. It’s all designed to achieving that impressive 93.1% screen-to-body ratio on the front of the phone. And, frankly, we like it a bit better than a traditional notch. So far, only the selfie camera on devices like the OnePlus 7 Pro offer a cleaner-looking alternative on a very similar curved display. But Samsung's punch-hole won't bug you after a couple of hours with the Galaxy S10. I also took the time to run some analysis of real-world gaming performance with PUBG Mobile and Shadowgun Legends using the Gamebench benchmarking tool. In both games, the S10 Plus performed well, even at full 3,040 x 1,440. With PUBG Mobile in Ultra mode (capped at 40fps in other words) and the highest quality settings available in native resolution, the Galaxy S10 Plus delivered a median frame rate of 38fps. In fact, the Samsung S10's 6.1-inch 19:9 Super AMOLED display panel looks better than anything Samsung sells its rivals, and it's been crowned the most color accurate smartphone display ever.

The Galaxy S10 also does a better job at levelling out exposure, with the Huawei P30’s automatic shooting mode generally overexposing images a bit too much. The HDR mode also does a fantastic job of lifting up the shadows and softening brighter areas of the image. IP68 water and dust resistant - so it can survive in 1.5m for up to 30 minutes - which is great if you are accident prone or want to protect your phone from the elements if you spend a lot of time outside. Possibly the best bit about the Samsung Galaxy S10 though is its size. As we've already mentioned, it measures 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8mm, and considering the size of the screen is nestles surprisingly well in the palm. Wireless power share enables the S10 to turn into a charger by simply being plugged in - so you can charge your wireless headphones and charge a friends phone at the same time as you charge your own.The Samsung Galaxy S10 marks a decade of Galaxy S phones, and while there’s been little innovation in recent years from the most popular smartphone brands, including Samsung (Bixby and AR EMoji don’t cut it), the S10 has enough newness to tempt you to upgrade. The S10 performs fast and efficiently with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and 8GB of RAM. This is great for intense use like gaming or working and streaming content. I can’t say how the smaller battery affects battery life exactly because I haven’t yet been given one to test, but with a screen that’s exactly the same resolution and only slightly smaller, the chances are that it’s not going to be quite as good as the S10 Plus.

It has elegantly curved edges with pixels that spill over the sides, amped-up brightness for better outdoor visibility, and HDR10+ support for superior contrast and color. One area where the Galaxy S10 could improve is in colour rendition. Generally speaking, colours aren’t as neutral as I may have liked and certain colour tones look quite oversaturated. If you take a look at the trees in my test shots, for instance, you’ll notice that the leaves look almost luminous. This is an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, different from the optical sensors on the OnePlus 6T and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, for example. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of its performance, however, isn’t related to how smoothly games play or how much grunt the processor can deliver, but rather how efficient the phone is. With Samsung opting to use its own chipset, rather than the Qualcomm standard, there’s the worry that its latest phones might underperform when compared with its equally pricey alternatives. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case in testing, as the 2.84GHz chipset managed to hold its own not only against the Snapdragon 855, but also against Huawei’s Kirin 980 and Apple’s A12 Bionic, too. This is for those who are chasing a high quality phone camera and large display for making and viewing content. The triple lens camera makes it easy to take photos in many different settings, and the 6.1 inch edge to edge display makes viewing your content even more enjoyable. So, if you find yourself on the go and in different settings but not always catching the best photos then this is definitely one for you to consider. Samsung’s screens are so good "our competitors are even using them", Samsung brand manager Paul Guzek told TechRadar, an all-too-obvious dig at Apple. It's hard to disagree.

The new Infinity-O display type is what stands out – for better or worse. Samsung has successfully avoided a notch cut-out at the top of its flagship phones, instead using a laser-cut hole in the top-right corner of the screen to embed the front-facing camera, as on the Honor View 20. It's possible to use the Samsung S10 one-handed, with the curved edges on the front and rear helping to give the effect that the phone is narrower than it actually is.

There's a hitch or two in Samsung's masterplan to get everyone to upgrade to this particular handset. The Samsung S10 launch price was expensive, more so than the Galaxy S9, although it's markedly better value than the iPhone XS, which was more expensive and has a smaller 5.8-inch screen. What does this mean for real-world battery life? Well, this is a phone that will comfortably make it through a day of hard use with room to spare. Pushing the phone to its limits for almost a week, with most days benchmarking and taking lots of photographs and video, I’ve not yet had to top up the charge before bedtime. That’s seriously impressive stuff. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus review: Cameras Whilst Samsung technology is fantastic - the main downfall of enjoying it is the price - especially when there are so many constant new releases, and most of us don’t want to be paying high amounts every time we see technology that we want. If you decide on switching to samsung refurbished phones rather than brand new, you will see a massive price difference, as refurbished samsung phones are a lot more budget friendly. Since there are so many varying phone conditions for the same model, you can also filter the product you want based on price, and get the condition and price that works for you, which makes it a lot more flexible.
