About this deal

I don’t think I’ll be able to talk about this anymore without spoilers, so this review is literally all spoilers. Book Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Dark, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, New Adult, Romance, Thriller Can someone please erase this book from my mind? I mean, seriously, what did I just read? I would have marked it as DNF (“did not finish” for my non-book nerds out there) at like 10% through the book had I not been determined to write a review on my blog. Everyone was talking about this book. I thought, you know, that it would blow my mind. Well, it kind of made me want to vomit to be completely honest because of how cheesy and absolutely cringeworthy it was.

The main reason i am reducing one star is because the first two times they had sex, he forced himself on her. They both knew it. People excuse this by saying it was cnc and even though I never kink shame, it was just not something i could easily fathom. Not only that but he also physically abuses her by slapping and choking and etc. He also punishes her all the time for the littlest things. And never listens to what she says. Just because she came in the end doesn’t make it okay for me. But i mean she didn’t seem to mind so ig that’s what counts. And if you’re into that, I understand. The first book of this series was a dark romance. This book, the second, was just dark. Very little romance to speak of. I'm going to start out with this because I feel like otherwise it'll get lost in the end of my review and no one will care but can we please stop making sapphic relationships a joke? premise- Adeline Reilly is a 26 year old indie author who has just moved into her late grandmother’s gothic and creepy manor- she absolutely loves this. Hunting Adeline" seamlessly continues from where its predecessor left off, crafting a narrative that delves into profound darkness before ultimately ascending into the light. The story culminates in the climactic reunion of the Hunter and his Diamond.

If you do want to read a good gun sex scene, you should look into Her Soul for Revenge. Not only is it incredibly hot, well drawn out, with great dialogue and variety, but it also has a fantastic character dynamic. The fmc in that book is so much more badass, so the playing field is even and so much more fun. Both characters take part in the teasing and dirty talk and ugh, let me tell you, it was years better than the sex scene in this one. I'll start with honesty. This book destroyed me. And you may think because it is dark and twisted, but the true reasoning is because of the immense pressure to make this one live it up to the first and to be frank, I was a little burnt out. It wrung every last blood, sweat, and tear from my body. And I believe I came out of the other side with something beautiful - a little jagged and imperfect, but beautiful all the same. leszek, alapvetően imádtam a könyvet, de folyamatosan motoszkált bennem az ellenérzés és a kétely. The Manipulator I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don’t affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He’s always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow I didn’t mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can’t stay away. I’m mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. The way she undresses… I’ll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I’ll never let her go. Not even when she begs me to. While not required, it is highly suggested to read the novella, Satan’s Affair, first. Warning: This book ends on a cliffhanger. Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton – eBook Details The trigger warnings are so so heavy on this one (will be mentioned at the end of the review). Although the author warned, I somehow didn't expect it to be so much darker than the first one. I wanted to throw up, cried at some of the scenes and was truly horrified and disgusted. But I applaud the author for having the heart and stomach to write it. It couldn't have been easy. The utterly raw and realistic scenes that take place in the book are not meant for the weak hearted.

The reviewer's commentary on Addie's interactions with her stalker adds a layer of realism and skepticism. The willingness to engage in flirting with a potential threat raises concerns and adds a sense of urgency to the narrative. The comparison of the two characters to Bonnie and Clyde highlights the intensity and complexity of their relationship.

I truly don't know how to put into words how much I LOVE this book and sincerely this entire duet. This is a masterpiece and I have been putting off writing this review because this one is hard for me to write. Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. This one did cure my reading slump. The reason I give it four stars instead of five is cause of the gun play scene, which was a bit much😅 Hunting Adeline" masterfully concludes the thrilling Cat and Mouse Duet, immersing readers in a shadowy realm populated by enigmatic figures and foreboding creatures. At the heart of this tale lies the tense survival duel between the Hunter and the Diamond. DNF at 55% {EDIT *SpongeBob 12 hours later*- I decided to skim the rest so I could write a proper review (it’s amazing how fast you can read when you skip over a bunch of stuff😍), specifically for Gigi's murder investigation and the “big cliffhanger”. I googled spoilers too. Now I’m truly FREE and I can move on🙏. Btw, I saw someone comment on ig today “Zade is the standard” and I want to CRY😭}. Lastly, I did dnf this book, and I guess it is possible for it to get better (i think i heard the second book is better) but I'm really not interested in giving this book another chance. And that's ignoring the fact that this book is so unnecessarily long.

This was the first book I finished by HD Carlton and it will not be the last. I’m so eager to read more of her work. Őszinte leszek: i m á d t a m. Örökre veled marad, pont úgy, ahogy a szereplők is. Oh, igen!

EDIT: I am reducing my rating because I feel like it gave people the wrong impression. I do not like nor support that rapist everyone thinks is a romantic, I liked it for the writing and vibes only. Zade can eat shit. I only liked some of his lines but not his actions. Idk why he is so praised when he’s a hypocrite😭 Ezidáig nem értettem, mire fel ez a sok figyelmeztetés a könyvvel kapcsolatban. Once again, no one does it like Harley Laroux. I can't wait for her to release the third book of the trilogy aaa!!

Listen, I understand that women being sexually assaulted in books is necessary for story lines, and I also understand that sometimes it needs to go into detail to further drive the plot in very rare cases, but this book did none of that. There are VERY descriptive rape scenes from the main character, and they just seemed so unnecessary. the story- Haunting Adeline is a book that dives deep down into the evil side of humanity, actually- it dives into the side where there is none. Despite its “dark romance” label, I have to unfortunately label it, reality. While there is romance in the book, it is not your peaches and cream type romance. More like blood and insanity. We follow along to see Adeline be stalked by Zade since the moment he laid eyes on her, he does everything in his power to make her his, even when she says no. But i realise that unfortunately that is the best case scenario irl. Most victims in skin trade don’t get rescued at all.. What Addie went through was hard to even imagine and reading it so explicitly made me hurt for those who had to deal with it for real. Tetszett ahogy Gigi, avagy Addie dédnagymamája gyilkossági szála is bele lett vonva a történetbe. Tell us what year you read or heard about the book. A range of years is fine. You can mention when you think the book was published. He turns his head and our eyes clash in one of the mirrors. My heart drops as I tear my eyes away to look around and see his eyes pinned on me from several directions, it’s the most intense feeling I’ve ever experienced. Adeline is someone I liked instantly. She has life to her, personality but the only thing that kind of bugged me a bit was how questionable her life choices were at times. Seriously, the girl had a death wish. Are we really surprised by the ending?🥲
