About this deal

Bob McMillan: Traditionally, they can put the perpetrators in jail and stop them from committing the crimes. But ransomware is a different kind of crime. It's really, really, difficult to actually get your hands on a lot of the ransomware purveyors because they operate in Russia and Russia is not going to extradite anybody to the United States. So they've been playing largely with the Russians a game of let's wait till they travel and let's try and nab them in Cyprus or nab them in Holland. And the ransomware people know about this, right? And they're not traveling. And so if they don't travel, even if you know who they are, you're not going to arrest them. So what do you do?

At a press conference last Thursday, the US Justice Department announced that together with German and Dutch police, they'd seized control of servers associated with Hive. For sure. The combined Navy and air assets of the entire Scandinavian part should be able to contest incursions by Russia which would free the rest of NATO to focus on central Europe. It would also take very little resources in the baltics to stop Russian expanses and there would be direct access to Russian naval bases in Northern Europe. He first admits that there has been a lot of rightwing violence lately, but pivots to bothside it with when leftwingers do it, they refuse to blame liberal pundits and politicians. Ontop of that, Finland has a large and modern army and Sweden has some very innovative weapon systems. This undoubtedly will also bring a unity in weapon systems, command and supply from north to south. It is sad to think that a second term with Trump would have more or less sealed Ukraine's fate and given the duplicitous behavior of GOP in this conflict, you could be assured that Trump would never have stood with a fractured Europe. I haven't spoken to Mitch McConnell about the rain on Oaks Day, why it took nine months to recognize Mandaloun as last year’s Derby winner, or why nobody bothered to tip us off to Rich Strike’s superpowers. But after reading his op-ed last month in The Courier Journal—and knowing him for more than 50 years—I can tell you with certainty his explanation for all three. Those darn Democrats! That's because Mitch will take any calamity and blame Democrats no matter how laughable. In-laws overstayed their welcome? Baby has colic? Leaky basement? Democrats, Democrats, Democrats!

Ryan Knutson: Bob says that one of the ironies of Hives criminal operation is that they try to come across as if they're a legitimate business. Bob McMillan: In July the FBI found the servers that were being used to run Hive and they got into them. We don't know how, but they got a perch that allowed them to not only see what Hive was doing and collect information about them, but to get these extremely valuable decryption keys that were essential for any customer that wanted to get their network operating after a Hive infection. Scott’s cover of Prince’s tune also exposes the Hive Evolution’s upper-midrange and treble. There is an edge to some of the vocals, just a little hardness that’s not present with the best wireless speakers at this price. Russia was scary up until it proved just how impotent their entire force was. So now people are joining NATO to not suffer the same faith as Ukraine and with the knowledge that Russia is a psychotic mass murderous paper tiger who cannot win an offensive war and is only capable at terrorizing people, murdering civilians and rape and torture women and men without guns. May 16, 2022 8:45:26 GMT -5 mrobvious said:Sweden will apply for NATO membership. It was almost given since Finland did, but it is still a massive step over very little time given Swedens truly messy history with neutrality. They met Sunday to discuss mainly 2 points.

Bob McMillan: So they made their name by being particularly ruthless. They went after hospitals during the COVID pandemic. And this was at a time when some ransomware groups were drawing a red line and saying like, "Look it. We're not going to be jerks. If we know that you're a hospital and you're a victim we're not going to try and put our ransomware on any hospital networks. It's too important. We don't want people to die because of this." Hive wasn't like that. They infected hospitals. They infected schools.Bob McMillan: So the fact that we don't have those arrests, that's caused some observers to say, "Hey, this group, without being arrested, could just pop up in another couple of months." Federal law bars people from owning a gun if a judge has determined they have a “mental defect” or they have been forced into a mental institution — but an evaluation alone would not trigger the prohibition. If NATO approves the membership, Sweden will ask to determine if any Nuclear weapons and permanent bases can be placed on Swedish territory.

Ironic isn't it. While they gaslight this nation and push the limit on reason; me as a fairly reasonable person now feel like I have to get something I've never entertained before. You can't argue with these idiots. So you might just ensure that they don't have the final word. Ryan Knutson: While inside Hive's networks, the government was also collecting data about the criminals that used Hive's ransomware. This KitSound speaker does lots right, though. Its balance, though not ‘acoustically perfect’, is enjoyable. Ryan Knutson: "We're going to beat you up and take your lunch money, but we're going to do it with some politeness."

TRAVEL BUDDY

So there's little chance Sweden will agree for any such weapons in Sweden, not that there's a specific advantaged of doing so, over say allowing for Allied subs to operate in the Baltics. Personally I've thought for a while now about getting a hand gun for personal protection and target practice. Never had a reason to get one, but given that there are so many rightwing nutbags everywhere, I'm getting to the point that I might just need something for my family. I realize that statistically I'm more likely to get shot in an accident or by a family member than in a burglary or whatever. But as we see right now from the mental breakdown on the right; I might just have to defend myself and my family from them. Summer is near, and outdoor living is on the way. Now, more than any other time of year, is when audio manufacturers seek to entice the buying public with portable speakers. Bob McMillan: Well, it's hard to accurately quantify the ransomware problem because a lot of people that are hit with it don't go give us public numbers, but the public numbers we have, it's hundreds of millions of dollars are paid to ransomware companies every year. And so it's easily a billion dollar industry. Please note: If you’re installing a bulb that has been previously paired, it will need to be reset. Switch on and off 8 times until the bulb double flashes (This indicates that the bulb has been reset and is able to be paired). You may need to try resetting at a different pace to get the bulb to double-flash.

The Bottom Line: A genuinely portable, genuinely impressive portable speaker, which offers outstanding value. It was Russian behavior in post soviet Russia, with invasions in Georgia and Chechnya that pulled in many on the newly minted eastern European nations. NATO didn't go lobbying for tiny little Baltic nations to join; they asked too due to Russian reemerging behavior. Yes, Putin has always sold his actions as 'but NATO' and tankies and morons over here has always fallen for the BS. Ryan Knutson: That sounds like an oxymoron. Ransomware as a service? Ransomware is like a disservice. One thing people often worry about with their smart light bulbs is whether they’ll fit with their existing wiring and wall switches. The short answer is yes. Hive’s lights come with standard fittings so it’s literally a case of unscrewing the old and screwing in the new. We advise not to install bulbs on metal lampshades or glass lamp stands.Private gun ownership generally requires a license, for which an applicant "must be at least 18 years of age, may not have been placed under guardianship, may not give cause for suspicion that he would endanger himself or others with the weapon, and may not have a criminal record with a conviction for a violent crime or of several convictions for nonviolent crimes," according to the Library of Congress's review of Swiss gun laws. The license is valid for six to nine months, and it's usually valid only for one weapon. Ryan Knutson: But if the government isn't arresting people, it's not clear how big of an impact this will actually have, especially considering the fact that Hive isn't the only group that makes ransomware. Bob McMillan: They're basically saying, "All right, fine. These are businesses. What is the thing that affects the business?" So yeah, throwing the CEO in jail is one thing, but if you disrupt their business model, you can actually have an effect. You can make it not as lucrative for them. And at a certain point, you got to ask yourself, "Okay, is it worth me doing this really awful activity where I can't travel and I can get thrown in jail and it's not as profitable as it used to be?" Maybe they can get some people to retire that way. Bob McMillan: They're considered to be extremely mercenary. There are words used to describe them that I probably can't say in a Wall Street Journal podcast, but they're just bad, bad, people.
