About this deal

For example, for a 4 cell LiPo we set the cell count at 4 with the voltage at 4.20V per cell so as to have 16.8V at full charge. Since it is a good idea to charge at a rate of 1C, if we have a 1300mAh LiPo battery, we set the current settings at 1.3A. It uses all buttons to operate the menu, which in my opinion is not as user friendly as other chargers that use a scroll wheel, especially when selecting a value, buttons are just slower to use. To calibrate the iMars, simply go to the system menu and select charger calibration. How does it compares to the D6 Pro and M6DAC? Gut ablesbares, kontrastreiches Farb-Display mit allen für den Lade-/Entladevorgang wichtigen Parametern.

The iMars Dual charger has a built-in power supply that allows you to power it directly from AC, it gives you a maximum output power of 200W. But when you power it from DC (using an external power supply), you can get up to 600W output power, that’s 300W per output channel! This is similar to what you can get form the popular HOTA D6 Pro and ToolkitRC M6DAC.This is why in this article we are going to analyze the HOTA D6 Pro, a battery charger with all the features needed in the RC world that has also a lot of aspects pointing to increase safety. Another nice feature is the possibility to use wireless charging to charge mobile devices that support it. Both chargers have built-in PSU and can take AC, but the output power are both limited to 200W. Still that’s plenty for ordinary pilots.

USB output in the ToolkitRC is more powerful and modern, it’s rated for 65W and supports various protocols such as PD, QC, AFC, FCP, SCP, PE, SFCP, VOC. On the other hand the HOTA only has a simple 10W 5V USB output. If you have a modern mobile device that supports one of the faster charging protocols, the ToolkitRC will be able to charge it much faster, you can even use it to power a soldering iron like the TS80P, which is not possible with the HOTA. Each port is protected by a 15A fuse, which helps prevent sudden current surges between batteries, safeguarding your batteries during charging and shielding the charging board from damage. In my opinion, this feature is essential in parallel charging boards. While fuse blowouts are rare, you will need to replace them when they do. These fuses are automotive types commonly found in cars, and you can easily find affordable replacements online (make sure to get the ones with long legs): To calibrate the M6DAC, simply turn off the charger, hold down the roller button while powering up. To scale down the voltage, increase the scale value. If you power it from AC you can only get up to a total of 200W, as the built-in power supply isn’t very powerful, but it’s convenient to use. Here’s the AC input: Settings menu can be accessed by long pressing the scroll wheel and the charger settings are the following: Minimum input voltage -> limits the voltage reached by an externally connected LiPo for charging other batteries The Hota S6 is a great charger, it does everything you need if you fly FPV drones, but for some people the older and cheaper D6 Pro might be enough. Take a look at the specs comparison here.

This is the Hota D6 Pro lipo balance charger, the Hota D6 Pro is a two channel device, this allows you to charge two Lipo’s simultaneously, the Lipo’s do need to be the same cell count or capacity.

For example you could use channel 1 to charge a 2s lipo and at the time charge a 6S lipo on channel two. The S6 has a darker matte finish, it has two outputs just like the D6 Pro, both can be powered from AC and DC, and the specs are fairly similar too. If you plan to power your LiPo charger from DC, i.e. using an external power supply or from a battery, then it doesn’t matter which charger you get, both will offer the same performance. But for the S6, you need to use a powerful enough PSU to get the most out of it and justify spending the extra money, as AC can already do 400W, e.g. using this 1200W PSU: https://oscarliang.com/product-lq1c. Maximum capacity -> it is the value corresponding to the maximum capacity of the battery, so the charger will stop if this value is reached The main benefit of it is that it offers 300W when powered by A/C, where the D6 Duo does 200W. It's a little bigger, than the D6 Duo, but another plus to me is the metal frame instead of plastic.

When I am using the iMars Dual LiPo charger, I don’t really feel much a difference from the D6 Pro or the M6DAC, the interface and operation are very familiar. But the buttons are slightly more cumbersome to use than the scroll wheel, so I prefer the D6 Pro and M6DAC in terms of user friendliness. The Gens Ace iMars Dual is a smart LiPo charger and has a very familiar interface and menu that look just like all the other latest Lipo charger on the market. In this section, we’ll discuss common modes in modern smart chargers. A decent charger should at least offer “Balance Charge Mode”, “Discharge Mode”, and “Storage Charge”. Other modes are nice to have but not as essential. Balance Charge I find both the D6+ and D6 Pro to take about the same to balance. A little faster than my iCharger. I still think the iChargers are a bit superior. But of course, they cost more. There are two items that can be used to move through the menu: the CH button on the left and the scroll wheel on the right. The CH button allows to choose the channel we want to configure for the charging: a single press cycles through the channels (1 or 2) and the monitoring screen when we can see stats about both channels during charging.
