Description

If you felt it was important enough to publish a short story about it, than it must have been important enough to be included in the book to begin with. Long thought dead children...estranged mothers...and long fostered plans for revenge soon have the King's Watch on duty and deep into it once more. But really the big problem with this book is that this is a long book (for this series) and the vast majority of it is slow build up, quite mild political intrigue, the main characters chilling with the rich family in question and getting to know them, flying people from one place to another etc.

My Rating of “3” is generous. The best word to describe this book is...tedious. It is a slog, with endless side plots and activities; and more characters than War & Peace.

Publication Order of The King's Watch Books

This is my first Tamsin Kennard audiobook and I like her voice. Her narration works well with Ciaran Saward's in this book. Kudos to the audiobook director and the narrators!

Sigh.....I have read every book in the series, so far. This includes the stand-alone short stories. I have enjoyed all of them, and, rated them highly. Until now. And then one night, strange lights drift across the lawn, and suddenly Don is a man with a mission. A mission to be rescued, if only he can find a way to send a letter… In essence this is a short story that keeps us on the journey to find out who created (fathered) Raven mixed in with a whole series of character updates that are sprinkled around the wedding, a recap from the last installment, a stag party, and a few other items tied to Conrad's reinstatement into The King's Watch. Adrian has had a varied career working for a brewery, teaching English and being the Town Clerk in Carnforth. He is now a part-time writer and part-time assistant in Anne's craft projects. There's quite a teaser at the end, so be forewarned that it's coming. It also rather apparent at the beginning of this book, with one of the primary characters brought in, there's more to to the story than is being shared at this point. Without going into further detail, and including any spoilers here, it's heavily hinted at, just as this one comes to a close. The British writer Adrian Attwood is well-known for his incisive and intelligently written crime and thriller novels, along with his fantasy. Over the years he created numerous works of fiction that have been appreciated by readers the world over, expertly crafting his narratives. Hugely influential within his field, he’s a massively gifted author and novelist with a lot to say and author, all while keeping his huge audience entertained. Primarily writing under his pen-name Mark Hayden, he’s become a worldwide publishing sensation with a lot to say and offer.
