About this deal

Once on, you can press the Speed button and increase the fan speed through 12 power settings – more than enough to find the exact setting for your preferences. Turn the fan off and it will remember your preferred power setting when you turn the fan on again. Sound performance: On minimum you can barely hear this fan, making it great for hot summer nights. Flat out it’s still comparatively quiet; it’s never harsh or intrusive. We have used DC technology before in our award winning Ultra Low Energy 25L dehumidifier so we know how good and reliable the technology is. It has three major benefits; As the MeacoFan 1056 Pedestal Air Circulator uses the same main fan unit as its desktop counterpart, I got the same results from this model. At minimum fan speed, I measured its airflow at 1.6m/s at 15cm and 1.2m/s at 1.5m; at maximum fan speed it was a powerful 4m/s at 15cm and 3.1m/s at 1.5m. These are the best distance results that I’ve seen. Impressively, the fan is quiet, too, measuring a whisper-quiet 43.5dB at 1m on minimum and just 57.2dB at maximum speed. Only Dyson’s Airblade fans are quieter. Should you buy the MeacoFan 1056 Pedestal Air Circulator?

Of course, the most important consideration when buying a fan is performance, and the good news is that the MeacoFan 1056P does an excellent job of cooling you down. It’s important to note that like all fans, the MeacoFan 1056P doesn’t cool the air, but cools you down by moving air over your skin, causing convective heat transfer that makes you feel cooler. Now, I could waffle on about how all Dyson fans exploit the physical laws of inducement and entrainment but it would be much easier to just show you this mesmerising demonstration video involving a row of Dyson fans and a single balloon. On its highest speed setting of 12, the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator is by far the most powerful fan I've tested. Outperforming the impressive Duux Whisper Flex Ultimate Fan in terms of the strength of air you can have streaming around the room in an instant. If you're looking for a fan that can really deliver a powerful air current, the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator will blow you away, (not quite) literally. Plug it in and you’ll hear a beep before the display shows the current room temperature. Turn on the fan with the remote or via its touch-sensitive controls and it defaults to the slowest of the 12 speeds on offer, but there’s immediately a strong air current, easily felt even on the other side of a room. Increase the speed to the maximum and there’s a powerful, consistent breeze. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that the Dyson Cool AM07 looks a zillion times better. It’s such an elegant, unobtrusive design that you really won’t notice it, and when you do you’ll just think ‘that looks nice, I made the right choice’, and carry on doing what you’re doing – even if you have just paid three times the price. This is the most powerful fan I've tested, delivering great cooling powers, and, thanks to its DC motor, managing to do that whilst also achieving very low noise levels.

Both of these fans deliver in spades but if cost, effectiveness, efficiency and features are top of the list, then for me the MeacoFan 1056P Air Circulator is a clear winner. All of the fan's control buttons are operated via this digital display (or the remote control). Each illuminated icon on the display is touch sensitive and beeps when pressed. When I reviewed the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator, I was impressed with its up/down and horizontal oscillation modes, letting it fresh a room’s air effectively. The downside, was that the fan was rather chunky and took up a lot of desktop space. With the MeacoFan 1056 Pedestal Air Circulator, the problem of finding desktop space has gone, as this model has an adjustable floor stand. The fan can be controlled via the magnetic remote control that sits neatly in the centre of the fan allowing you to select from one of the twelve fan speeds, the side to side or up and down motion and for when you want cool air to help you sleep a Sleep Mode that adjusts the cooling rate so that you don’t wake up feeling too cold in the middle of the night. The display can also be turned on or off depending on whether you like to have a bit of light in your bedroom at night or not. With the Meaco Fan you have the choice and can turn the lights on for a dim glow or keep them off, whichever as you prefer. Use and features: You get a remote, night mode, a six-hour timer and a useful temperature-sensing Eco mode. There’s horizontal oscillation, too, but the tilt adjustment is manual. If you want a quiet fan for the bedroom to help you sleep at night then this is the right fan for you because its noise level starts from just 20dB. You can have absolute confidence that this is a quiet fan because it has been awarded the prestigious Quiet Mark award for low noise products. Ideal Home says – “Despite all this power the fan is near silent yet manages to offer near-360-degrees of air circulation, even when placed out of the way against a wall. By using both the vertical and horizontal oscillation you find that air is pushed off all the walls and even the ceiling so the entire room feels refreshed… Somehow this beautiful beast also manages to remain cheap to run making it one of the best room cooling options out there right now, especially at that affordable-for-what-you-get price.” You will notice that the Dyson AMO7 doesn’t seem to have any fan blades to slice your fingers on. This is because all Dysons use Air Multiplier technology – instead of having fan blades on the outside, it has them on the inside.
