About this deal

Auren is the lost daughter of someone and something, probably someone important. She was probably kidnapped, and now she is an important person in faeirie land. Reconnection with people in her past like a nanny or something. (i don't have high hopes her parents are alive) Raven Kennedy, one of the multigenre writers that can write in the fantasy, paranormal, dark romance, contemporary, and rom-com genres, is the author of this series. No, Kennedy has planned a total of five books for this series. Is “The Plated Prisoner” a romantic series?

The plot. The reveals. The twist on the myth of King Midas. THE SPICE. All of it had me squealing and screaming and crying and all around freaking out. Not to mention the prose - so well done, so unique, so wonderfully descriptive that I can envision this world of magic and politics and love and loss as if I am there, living in it, experiencing all that Auren does. I was looking forward to Auren's journey, especially knowing that she is a victim groomed to be nothing but a gilded prisoner who believed for so long that her golden cage is where she will always be safe. I said in my review of Glint that he reminded me of Rhysand in ACOMAF, and he continued to be amazing in this third book. His relationship with Auren is based on respect, and he is even willing to leave her behind if it's what she really wants. He wants her, but even more than that, he wants her to be able to decide what she wants and be happy with her choices. I really fell in love with his kind and fiercely protective side, and the sexual tension mixed with the angst between Auren and him was delightful. The story of King Midas and his golden touch is well known and well-loved,” Johnston said in a statement to Deadline. “This is a retelling of a completely transformed tale, one that dives deep beneath the myth and produces a heartbreaking, and inspirational saga. The world the author has created has captured the imaginations of millions of people and we are excited to be adapting the rich and fantastical world that Raven Kennedy has so vividly created.”The blindfold has been ripped from my sight. Now, my heart doesn’t squeeze. My stomach doesn’t flutter. He broke something inside of me far more than just my heart. He broke my will. My drive. My voice. He broke down my very spirit, and I let him." I go completely still as he moves his hand and grips my chin, like he wants to make sure I'm paying attention.

There's more scheming and more secrets resurfacing and Auren will either have to follow her heart or remain in her gilded cage. Bright side? At least I’m alive. At least I got away from the Red Raids. I won’t be subjected to whatever Quarter wanted to do with me once he discovered his captain was missing. A woman fully realised is fully equipped, and boy, oh, boy is Auren transforming into a woman that devastates kingdoms and bring men to their knees. I cannot wait for the next book Glow. BURN THIS SHIT DOWN AUREN!!!I can’t wait to see the rest of you. When you let it go, when you finally let that out, your fury is going to light up the spirit you’ve shadowed.” He looks like someone who’s won, boasting in superiority. “I hope you burn so bright that you scorch your Golden King down to ash.” Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed. The “Plated Prisoner” series is meant for adults only, especially “Gild,” the first book, which contains multiple trigger warnings, including abuse, sexual violence, strong language, and enslavement. How many books are there in the “The Plated Prisoner” series? King Ravinger / Rip: ★★★★★ stars - this man can probably do no wrong. Whoops what was that? A character fault? Suddenly I cannot read, comprehend or understand the written word. It's a medical mystery.

I love the sense of camaraderie amongst enemies that this book gave. I love each one of those side characters, and even the bad ones. Sure, our heroine is loyal to a fault. Blindly loyal so. But all that I can gather at that time was, how fortunate the next person would be when he has her loyalty. Because she stupidly will NEVER stray! As she meets a few soldiers of the Fourth’s army, Auren changes more and more. She gains confidence and realizes that not everyone is trying to take advantage of her or abuse her. For the first time in forever, she is treated as a human being. She is a captive, but she is not in a cage, nor is she insulted or treated like an object of a whore. There is definitely a “found family” vibe there and I adored it! I can’t wait to see more of her with Keg, Judd, Lu, and Osrik. My fav growth is really someone I feel like has earned it and just major slay- I love gray characters and redemption arcs. 🩵 Midas made me forbidden and weak. Little did he know that I would find my wings and voice - which sings now. Warning: this review contains major spoilers if you haven't read the first and second books. So go read them, because this series is amazing and deserves more readers.

The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, and wiped out Seventh Kingdom in the process. He has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all. I'm very happy with Auren's development in this book from start to finish. She is indecisive but I can totally understand where that indecisiveness comes from. Seeing here finally break out of her shell was so cathartic. Fortunately, no longer the meek girl who once found Midas’ attention enticing, Auren is the woman who wields world power and finally decides to take control of her destiny. The slow burn was absolute torturee. There was barely any romance in this honestly like it wasn't a huge focus, which I'm totally fine with since all this sets it up for the next book anyways. I need more Aurip content for sure. Auren is trapped in a cage once more by Midas, and she is alone in an unfamiliar place with no one to rescue her. Except for one man, King Slade, whom Auren finds far too attractive.

Queen lady / wife of Midas: ☆.5 stars - *0.5 stars for #girlpower and not trying to conform to the patriarchy. Being a Queen seems hard especially without Midas the abusive manipulator King. To bad she tried to murder a big chunk of her citizens for being upset that they were poor. -1000 stars for that. No one likes a dictator especially a homicidal one. An astonishing world with captivating characters and a story you won't be able to put down' Ivy Asher, author of The Osseous Chronicles and The Lost Sentinel Series Osrik scratches his shaggy brown beard. “How about this saddle, Rissa?” he says. “Is she trustworthy?”There are many things I would applaud Raven for but what truly reinforces her impeccable writing and storytelling especially in this book is how she renders such multi-dimensional characters with fantastic arcs (even if you did not root for some of them in the beginning) and the world-building and lore just fills you with awe. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all. You know how a lot of people complain about the Blood and Ash series moving in snail pace, and I agree, but hot damn, then there is Glint where it feels like the characters don't move at all and only stay within the same camp until maybe the last 20% when they finally arrived at the Fifth Kingdom. That's the only change of scenery. im not even really a character driven type of reader, but Gleam was so worth it. im thoroughly impressed at how Auren took charge and fought for her freedom. i thought that the H would be THE leading man saving her from all kinds of troubles, but i was wrong. Auren said she was choosing herself, and she proved it. even when i was scREAMing in my head, “wheres the H? this is his time to swoop in and BE THE HERO!” during Midas’ constant manipulation & abuse on Auren, he never came...which disappointed me a little, but at the same time i marvelled at how Auren managed to hold her own every single time.
