Gloss mediums make acrylic paint thinner and more fluid. It also enhances the luminosity of the acrylic paint color. It also makes the paint more transparent and dries to a light sheen. Matte Medium Angled Brush – These are versatile brushes have a flat angular tip that can be used for coverage as well as detailed work, they’re good for doing corners and have better angles than other brushes as well as being able to get to small spaces with the tip. You receive four brushes: two rounded and two flat ones. There’s a paint sponge too for a grainy finish. That isn’t so bad for a child’s kit, considering the price and the exciting shimmery accessories that accompany the kit to grab kids’ attention and spark a lasting interest in the activity. Most of the tools listed are standard art supplies. Acrylic paint and a paint palette are nothing new; you may already have those. You’ll want the micron pens and fine line brushes to create fine details to your Mandala. But the signature tools for this style of painting are dotting tools. Don’t worry; you don’t have to buy anything special for these! You can make your dotting tools with simple items around the house. Bobbie pins, ink pens, tips of paintbrush handles, pencil erasers, the end of crochet hooks, and more! The thing to keep in mind when selecting a dotting tool is to look for something with a smooth surface and bottom (you don’t want something uneven that won’t distribute the paint well). You are likely over thinking this, as you really do not need a lot to get started. As you improve, you will find your favourite brands and may prefer a certain brush over another. Just remember to keep it fun, this is a great little hobby that brings peace and calm. The amount of paint and the number of accessories also matter. Kits generally have little amounts of paint meant for kids. You may want a kit with several brushes for a family or group of kids. 2. However, what really stood out are the extras that you will not find in other low priced sets. You might have to buy them separately and end up spending more than what you would pay for this kit. Brush size depends on the size of the stones you are painting on. Typically, small size brushes are used for detail work, and mid-size brushes are probably the largest size you will need to for painting on stones. The comprehensive, easy-to-follow tutorial booklet inside is an excellent source of motivation and ensures you enjoy painting and succeed at it. Matte medium will give your acrylic paint a semigloss look since acrylics have a natural gloss adding a matte medium will make the sheen subtle. Don’t leave your paint brushes in a water cup for long periods of time. This will distort the bristles causing it to bend and fray. Keep your brushes upright or horizontal to protect the bristles.
