Miniseries and spin-off of the main series centered on Dr. Starline and his villainous crew consisting of Zavok, Mimic and Rough & Tumble. Sonic the Hedgehog Volume 8: Out of the Blue (March 30, 2021) (a reprint of #30–32 including the 2020 Annual) Unlike the other E-100 Series robots, E-117 Sigma seeks to help others rather than harm them. He is also quite polite and cordial to others, asking for forgiveness if he feels he has done wrong.

When Tails shows Sigma the translator he installed on his Data Pad, Mecha Sonic notices and stares at it for a few moments. Sigma informs Sonic and Tails that they need to go to the Death Egg to find a spare part, and Sonic decides to tag along, though he gives Mecha Sonic another glare. Mecha Sonic takes Sonic and Sigma on a small detour to water the flower, with the latter explaining that Mecha Sonic hoped to one day plant it in real soil. Mecha, Sonic and Sigma later arrive at the abandoned Egg Carrier, and Sigma splits up with Mecha and Sonic to find the part they need. [3]

At some point in time, it was abandoned and forgotten by Dr. Eggman. Sigma then ended up in Scrapnik Island, along with the other Scrapniks. He would repair himself and the other Scrapniks and eventually build up a temporary civilization. Likely a coincidence, but this isn't the first time the franchise had an E-117 Sigma robot. According to a now-defunct Sonic Universe blog post that detailed the fates of the other E-Series up to E-123 Omega, that universe's E-117 Sigma fought E-102 Gamma and managed to infect him with a "Zero Virus" before being destroyed. Mind-Control Device: The Egg Noggin, a remnant of a period where Eggman was experimenting with using his mind to directly control his Badniks. He did manage to make a breakthrough with the tech, but as tends to happen, he immediately got bored and abandoned the idea. Mecha would later repurpose the Noggin as a way to transfer his mind into Sonic's body, though his fellow Scrapniks would explosively put the kibosh on that as well.
