About this deal

Deciding which brand of electric toothbrush is right for you has likely been more confusing and complicated than you originally thought.

The reason I believe that Sonicare is the best quality overall is because of the feel and performance in hand. Sonicare, to me at least feel more robust and premium, the plastics look and feel stronger and the overall experience is that more effort and attention to detail has been put into the product. The Sonicare 3100 is one of Philips’ entry-level Sonicare brushes, but in actual use you’d struggle to notice; the core technology works brilliantly and it’s compatible with all the brush heads. Philips sells it with a ProResults head attached, along with a USB charger. Although subject to model most in both ranges have battery indicators that give a guide as to when a charge is required. Just 1 cleaning mode is available on the 3100. A single press of the power button is all that is needed to get brushing. Each can use the standard head, but you in turn lose the benefits of the brush head replacement reminder.Although rounded, the handle isn’t a perfect cylinder and there is a slightly squared design to the handle which works well. Technical specifications Battery: Rechargeable Battery type: Lithium ION Operating time (full to empty): 14 days***** Plaque is the very reason we brush our teeth, so the more of it we can disrupt and remove the better. To be called a sonic toothbrush this vibration must be at a speed that causes and audible hum. This is up to about 20,000 Hz (or vibrations per second). Vibrations faster than this are “ultrasonic” and can not be heard by the human ear.

But complicating things further are the different brush heads and brushing intensities on offer across the range of models. For me, Sonicare wins because of battery life primarily. With up to 3 weeks on most models, that covers most people for more than enough time when travelling. Just take the brush and no charging stand. With Oral-B, even with the most premium brush, you may need to consider taking a charger for a 2 week holiday. Removes up to 3x more plaque - The Sonicare Electric Toothbrush with advanced sonic technology is clinically proven to remove plaque up to 3X better than a manual toothbrush. It removes plaque from your teeth and along the gum line, without being harsh and whilst protecting your gums. At the same time, the brush head replacement light will flash, although this is nigh on impossible to actually see. Therefore if you are on a budget, the 1100 proves itself to be best value. Over 3 years, however, the premium for the 4100 isn’t that significant. weeks of use is now common for an electric brush. Whilst Philips don’t advertise such usage times, premium models including the 4300 ProtectiveClean achieve this. To help with this the 3100 has a pacer built in. At 30 second intervals, the timer pauses the bristle motion. It creates a change in the sound and brushing sensation. This is your cue to move between the 4 sections of the mouth until all have been brushed. The 3100’s handle is slimmer and lighter than previous Sonicare models with similar features and price point. Comfortable to hold thanks to the slim rounded profile Durable and quality feeling in the hand Whilst perhaps Oral-B has the edge the good news is that both are beneficial. Which has the best design?
