About this deal

This marks the second to last appearance of actor Ralph Wright. He would return one more time as the voice of Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore, released 6 years later. Hundred Acre Wood • Pooh's House • Piglet's House • Tigger's House • Rabbit's House • Eeyore's House • Owl's House • Rabbit's Garden • Christopher Robin's Room • Skull Cave • North Pole • Gopher's Tunnels • Heffalump Hollow • The Scary Woods

In 1977 these three wonderfully diverse shorts about Pooh, Christopher Robin, and the rest of the gang were compiled together. A fourth short was added to the end, 'The House at Pooh Corner,' to try and give the movie some sort of cathartic storybook ending. Bits and bobs were added in between the transitions to make the whole thing feel more like a linear story and, voila, 'The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh' was born. Gopher is hilarious - «he's not in the book» and it's simply awesome whenever he falls into his hole. He is inspired on the Beaver from "Lady and the Tramp". They both can talk and whistle at the same time. Long a classic part of children's literature in England, Pooh was finally introduced to the American audience at large in 1966 with "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree." Shortly thereafter, Walt Disney died. More Pooh was already on the way, though, and "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day" was released to theaters in 1968. That was followed by a third installment, "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!", in 1974. Seventy years before Toy Story stormed the box office and redefined animation, another story imagined what it might be like if our toys had lives of their own. Winnie-the-Pooh was first published in 1926 by A.A. Milne. The collection of tales, inspired by Milne's son Christopher and his stuffed dolls, was soon followed by another: The House at Pooh Corner, published in 1928. More than three decades later, Pooh's Heffalump Movie: " Little Mr. Roo" • " The Horribly Hazardous Heffalumps" • " The Name Game" • " Shoulder to Shoulder" • " In the Name of the Hundred Acre Wood/What Do You Do?"Walt Disney Pictures released a sequel, simply called Winnie the Pooh, on April 15, 2011 in the United Kingdom, and on July 15 of the same year in the United States. Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You: " Girls are Like Boys" • " When the Love Bug Bites" • " Places in the Heart" TV Shows: Welcome to Pooh Corner • The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ( video) • The Book of Pooh • My Friends Tigger & Pooh • Playdate with Winnie the Pooh • Me & Winnie the Pooh Video Games: Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood • Tigger's Honey Hunt • Piglet's Big Game • Winnie the Pooh's Rumbly Tumbly Adventure • Pooh's Party Game: In Search of the Treasure • Kinect: Disneyland Adventures • Kingdom Hearts • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep • Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories • Kingdome Hearts II • Winnie the Pooh: Adventures of the Hundred Acre Wood • Animated Storybook: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree • Animated Storybook: Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too • Kingdom Hearts III • Disney Emoji Blitz • Disney Heroes: Battle Mode • Disney POP TOWN Tinker Bell (2008) • Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure (2009) • Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (2010) • Secret of the Wings (2012) • The Pirate Fairy (2014) • Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast (2015)

The Dutch dub uses an alternate opening score and theme from Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore in 1983. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was first released on VHS, Betamax, CED video record, and laser disc in the early 1980s. It was re-released on VHS on March 27, 1996 as part of the Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection series and included video footage of the making which was shown before the film starts. The Blu-ray version was released on August 27, 2013 along with the third DVD release and includes the current voice actors. The bonus features included a Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh segment, "Geniuses" and the only bonus feature that was kept from the previous DVD releases was the "Winnie the Pooh" theme song music video performed by Carly Simon. The "Friendship Edition" VHS and DVD was re-released on June 19, 2007. The DVD re-release included the only bonus feature which was an episode of Playhouse Disney’s computer-animated series The Book of Pooh. The VHS and DVD re-release coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of the film.

Side guide

Having spanned from the glory days of Walt Disney to the dark age that followed his death, Pooh was one property still capable of breathing life into the otherwise ailing company. It made sense, then, to bring Walt's original dream to life and give the bear and his friends their very own feature-length film... sort of. In 1977, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh combined the three preceding Pooh featurettes into one movie than ran just over an hour. The resulting feature emerged as the most recognizable version of Winnie the Pooh to date. Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year (2002) • Disney Learning Adventures: Winnie the Pooh - Wonderful Word Adventure The part where Roo and Tigger jump out of a tree in winter in the film and not in winter in the original stories.

Closing Thoughts: This is undoubtedly the pinnacle of '70s Disney animation. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh provides a look at childhood imagination like no other. Each character oozes with personality, the songs are catchy, and the down-to-earth scenery is refreshingly beautiful. The first lets viewers select each photo as a still frame, one by one. The second is a "video gallery" (9:15) that plays all the stills in succession, panning across each as delightful music plays. It's also accompanied by occasional narration that provides more information about the photos (did you know, for instance, that posters are made to "celebrate a new movie"?). There are 66 stills in all, covering concept, production, promotion, and even Pooh's place in Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland! Though not as plentiful as some of the studio's other DVD art galleries, the presentation is fantastic.
