There are a few necessary tools for baking your first loaf of this beginner's sourdough bread. The following might look like a long list, but you probably already have many of these in your kitchen—There are a few tools necessary for baking this beginner's sourdough bread. Note that one item is absolutely necessary: a kitchen scale. If you don't have a kitchen scale, please consider buying one. Measuring flour with cups and scoops is entirely inaccurate! I am definitely a Robin Sloan fan. I enjoyed Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore as well so I was looking forward to this one. While his stuff can be a bit out there (it definitely falls in the Magical Realism category), it is not so out there that it is hard to stay engaged. It is like he takes things from our normal, everyday lives and tweaks them slightly towards the bizarre. After finishing his works, you may not look at the little things quite the same anymore.

Once combined the mixture will begin to ferment, cultivating the naturally occurring wild yeasts and bacteria present within the mixture.
