Takeaway:"Powerful, long-lasting and incredibly good at, well, everything, the Dyson Cyclone V10 is not only the best cordless cleaner we have tested, [but] it is [also] the best cleaner, full stop." Along with its technological advancements, the Dyson Cyclone V10 sports a number of other improvements which just make sense.

All models of the Cyclone are expensive – but there are significant differences in price between the various versions. The takeaway, though, is that there is no difference between the motor unit you get across the different models, just the type and number of attachments. For me, the best value model is the Absolute, because this gets you all three motorised heads.

There is some confusion about the differences between V10 models though. Dyson has simplified their cordless ranges – the V6 series had an astonishing 12 models at one point– but the differences between V10 Cyclone versions aren’t immediately obvious. Generally, the Dyson Cyclone V10 is a big improvement over the V8 but there is one negative: it’s heavier. Not by much, but it’s noticeable if you’re cleaning more than one room in one go. The V10’s improved head design does mitigate this somewhat, though. Dyson Cyclone V10 review: Verdict Maximum power offers incredible suction (we put our fingers up to the vacuum head and were amazed by how strong it was – enough so that we'd firmly suggest not trying this at home), though unfortunately this setting will completely drain the battery after roughly five minutes of usage. In fact, the only differences are the price and which tools are included. So, which should you choose? That said, such technological advancement comes with a hefty price tag, and it's likely that the V10 will be a tad too expensive for many potential buyers. So, if your house has lots of delicate hardwood floors, the Absolute or Total Clean are the better options. If your budget won’t stretch to the more expensive models, or you don’t need the soft-roller head, the Animal can still do a great job at cleaning all surfaces. Whole-System Sealed Filtration. Dyson cordless vacuums have always had excellent filtration – and the V10 is no exception. It’s built with a fully-sealed design which, combined with the cyclone technology and post-motor filter, can trap 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger. The Cyclone series has also been certified by Allergy Standards Limited. The new and improved battery also means faster recharge times, taking roughly 3.5 hours to go from a completely flat battery to a full charge. Dyson Cyclone V10: final review verdict If you don’t need the soft roller, the Dyson V10 Cyclone Animal is a brilliant vacuum – and there’s no real need to pay more for the Absolute. The Animal provides outstanding cleaning performance and still comes with a variety of tools, including a turbo tool and dusting brush. This means it’s great for cleaning everything from pet hair to carpets.

The main difference between the Animal and Absolute/Total Clean is the i nclusion of the soft-roller cleaner head. Previously known as the “Fluffy” floor tool, this has soft bristles for removing dirt and larger debris from hard floors. Note: The soft-roller cleaner head can be bought separately from Dyson. If you’re not sure whether you need it, go for the V10 Animal and add the soft roller later. Tools & Accessories For instance, the V10 features a front-facing barrel, which all attachments now connect to directly. Critics around the web reviewed the Dyson V10 Absolute, and most gave positive reports. Some of them had negative things to say, though. Cyclones. Along with the powerful V10 motor and sealed filtration system, the 14 cyclones do a great job of forcing dust, dirt and bacteria into the bin. It's our opinion that the V10's medium power setting, which will give you around 30 minutes of continuous usage, is the one you'll be using most of the time, with the maximum setting reserved for small vacuuming sessions and those occasions where you have really stubborn dirt trapped in your carpet or rugs. If you need to clean hard floors – particularly delicate hardwood – go for the Absolute. The soft roller’s unique design makes it great for both larger debris and small dust particles. Dyson V10 Moto r. The core technology is Dyson’s new V10 motor. This has been re-designed since the V8, and provides excellent suction power that rivals upright models. All versions of the V10 use the same motor. How does the Total Clean fit into the picture? It’s the most expensive model, but the only additions are an up-top tool (for cleaning above furniture), extension hose and mattress tool. These are all useful accessories, but the Absolute is probably the more cost-effective choice.
