The POP 2 will never give you the results you are looking for. Or at least not unless Revopoint updates its software algorithms by a lot. The EXStar software provides a set of useful tools for scan data editing. You can delete scanning artifacts using various selection tools, or remove the base where your object rested while being scanned, using the cutting plane function. On a similar note, the scan stitching of the Exstar software is also better than Revopoint’s. We reviewed the Revopoint MINI as recently as a couple of weeks ago, and it’s clear that Revopoint’s algorithms still need some work. Benefit from built-in RGB color camera, EINSTAR reproduces the original colors of the scanned objects authentically. The Exstar software has a couple of neat features that we haven’t seen before in Shining 3D’s budget scanner software. The most notable is the ‘Data Quality Indicator’ setting that you can enable while 3D scanning.

Make quality 3D digitizing technology accessible to everybody, helping enterprises and individuals to enter the realm of the digital world. Einstar 3D scanner has been developed, allowing everybody to digitize the world around them like never before. Bit of a curveball, but the iPhone 14 Pro (and in act the iPhone 13 Pro) are excellent 3D scanners. Sometimes the best tool is the one you (may) already have, and since the release of the iPhone 13 Pro, the LiDAR Scanner that comes with both the 13 and 14 Pro has been used as part of the AR solution for creatives and as a 3D scanner. Compared to other handheld 3D scanners on the market, the Einstar is a great budget option. For hobbyists and casual 3D scanners that want to scan larger objects, the device provides decent results for a fraction of the price.

The Einstar can capture colors as well thanks to its onboard cameras; this used to be an expensive add-on on some of the previous EinScan 3D scanners.

Needless to say, the Einscan H outshines the Einstar in practically every category—aside from the price. From scan detail to speed and ergonomics, the Einscan H is the better device. The two adjacent buttons, the ‘+’ and ‘-‘, let you either zoom in/out in the software, or increase/decrease the scanner sensitivity. Before the scanner and software actually start capturing data, there’s a preview mode that shows what the camera sees (top left corner) and what the scanner captures (center of the screen). Based on what we can see on the fan’s label, it is an ADDA AD2005LX-K70. It comes with a durable HYPRO bearing and isn’t just a random fan grabbed from the bargain bin. In feature mode, the software and scanner will position themselves based on your object’s shapes. This mode works best on objects with a lot of different geometries. But it won’t work well on: Professional scanners usually have a high level of accuracy. When accuracy is a key factor in your application, it is always worth investing in a professional scanner. A less expensive scanner can also be the right choice to provide good data for your purposes. Choose the right scanner for your application, not just based on a spec sheet. They are sufficient for basic 3D models and are useful to add some visual appeal to otherwise dull 3D scans. That said, capturing textures takes more time and computing power, and is not always necessary in all scanning tasks. It’s best to decide whether or not you need it for each individual project. Outdoor Scanning

Accurate results require multiple scans of the calibration artifacts (usually a certified ball bar) at different angles under ideal environmental conditions according to the VDI/VDE 2634 standard. Each scanner in the EinScan Pro Series, EinScan H Series follows the same standards to ensure accuracy is controlled within the listed values. These two details lead us to believe that the engineers at Shining 3D put some thought into making sure the Einstar can last a while. It’s all we can deduce without opening the device up, but there is nothing that indicates the company cut corners anywhere. AccessoriesThe Einstar’s effective working distance of 160–1400 mm allows it to effectively capture both small and large objects, starting from the minimum size of 50 x 50 x 50 mm. With the recommended working distance of 400 mm, the field of view of the Einstar is 434 x 379 mm. Objects with repeating geometries, like a grid; it wouldn’t be able to tell where it is since the geometry repeats itself everywhere.
