About this deal

PERRY COMO | full Official Chart History | Official Charts Company". Officialcharts.com . Retrieved 2016-10-03. This mostly positive, upbeat song is exactly what this album needs. Elvis only briefly falls into more jaded territory with the 'Ain't it just like a woman' verse. This one deserved to be a big hit. Kristofferson wrote most of the song in 1968 while on a work-related road trip from Nashville to the Gulf of Mexico. [1] It recounts the end of a love affair, based on a real life experience of his, [6] in a manner that popular music scholar Steve Sullivan said "conveys sadness, acceptance, and longing". [1]

Actor Richard Harris performed the song "My Boy" at a music contest sponsored by Radio Luxembourg in 1971. Despite not winning the contest, Harris recorded the song and released it as a single later that year. Appearing on Harris' album of the same name, the song reached #41 on the Billboard pop chart and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart. Spain released a 45 rpm of My Boy/Thinking About You RCA PB-10191 as well with a totally different sleeve compared to the U.S one but with same matrix!. One of the things that has always bothered me about Good Times is that Elvis doesn't look quite right on the cover, particularly his lips. I won't give it away here, but the booklet finally reveals why this is so. http://www.elvisconcerts.com/concerts/dboutput.php?search_tourref=search_tourref&search_month=search_month&search_day=search_day&search_year=1974 FTD's version of Good Times turns out to be a fine upgrade of the original album, truly capturing the spirit of a collectors label by bringing the original cuts together in pristine sound quality along with tons of additional takes. Ten years in, FTD seems to have hit its stride, and its Classic Album series has become essential.

The strongest number on the album is 'My Boy'. This dramatic ballad is perfectly suited to Elvis' voice and he gives a convincing performance full of strength and passion. Elvis also gives creditable performances on the country ballads 'Take Good Care of Her' and 'Lovin' Arms' but they are not in the same league as any of the country numbers contained on the classic ' Elvis Country' (1971). It was featured in television commercials promoting ESPN's coverage of the 2014–15 College Football Playoff. [14] [15] Charts [ edit ] Chart (1970) For the Good Times" is a song written by Kris Kristofferson, first recorded by singer Bill Nash in 1968 before appearing on Kristofferson's own debut album in June 1970. After a recording by Ray Price became a #1 hit single in June of that year, the song established Kristofferson as one of country and popular music's top songwriters while giving Price his first chart-topping country and western song in 11 years. [1]

Priscilla told People in 1978 that she continued to go to Graceland with Lisa Marie "like we were never divorced. Elvis and I still hugged each other, still had love. We would say ‘Mommy said this' and 'Daddy said that.' That helped Lisa to feel stable. There was never any arguing or bitterness." Here is hope this is of your interest, any added info & pictures are always welcome. Thanks!. Bye for now . At the 1971 Academy of Country Music awards, "For the Good Times" won in the category of "Song of the Year" (for Kristofferson as composer) and "Single of the Year" (for Price). [12] In 2014, Rolling Stone named Price's recording #18 on its "40 Saddest Country Songs of All Time". [13] Kacey Musgraves has said it "might be the saddest song of all time. It really breaks my heart." [1] Whitburn, Joel (2004). The Billboard Book Of Top 40 Country Hits: 1944-2006, Second edition. Record Research. p.275. It hasn't been easy for me, being away from home and all. It gets kinda lonely. I guess you might say I need someone to talk to. You don't have to worry about her, Captain. I'll take good care of her.'" Price's recording was released as a single and made its chart debut on June 27, 1970, topping the country and western chart for one week and reaching #11 on the pop singles chart. [1] "For the Good Times" was Price's fifth #1 single and spent 19 weeks on the chart. [9] It was also his only release to hit the Top 40 of the pop chart. [10] Originally Price's label, Columbia Records, had released the song as the "B" side of the single, but switched to promoting "For the Good Times" after Wayne Newton recorded his own version of the tune. The flip side, "Grazin' in Greener Pastures," did receive credit on the country music chart. [11] Elvis flubs the lyrics on the otherwise promising 6 and 8, then calls for a 'big, huge idiot board' to show the words. He flubs Take 10 as well'. I'm too crazy to be serious', Elvis notes and then pulls off a longer Take 11, flubbing some of the lines near the close and finally ending the song slightly early.
