Saint, is Fable's father. (not a spoiler, revealed in early chapters) He was another character I felt was developed properly. I was sailing the grim, deadly Narrows on the mainmast of a shadow ship, a spyglass sharpening my gaze; I was dredging the bottom of the deep blue sea, silence and chaos my companions. My own, and every woman who is juggling family alongside working and also finding time for her creative passions! Fablehouse book two. I can read non-fiction alongside a fiction book, but usually I do only like to have one book on the go at a time and I can’t read at night because it keeps me awake.

Pepper is a Hybrid Author of both Traditional and Self-published work. Her Pure Corruption Series was released by Grand Central, Hachette. I fell right in love with each member of the Marigold crew! This journey was not the best or safest journey and there were a few rough things that happen.I absolutely fell into this beautiful book - it's the perfect book to curl up with on a dreamy, sunny afternoon! I created the roamers special powers by considering their natural abilities and personalities and then imagined how that might look if they were taken to the extreme. I’m naturally empathetic and also really curious. I’m not sure how those qualities might develop… perhaps the empathy would lead to mind-reading? Or shape-shifting? As for a weapon of choice… I was always quite fond of Wonder Woman’s lasso, so maybe something like that? Set in the 1950s, Fablehouse has its own magic and when one of the children, Heather found it, the underworld beneath their home was exposed. With a touch of Arthurian and Merlin legend, Heather and her friends are set to save Fablehouse before it is too late. Aside from its gorgeous cover, Fablehouse is now one of my favorite middle-grade fantasy books because its own fantasy world is so magical and amazing. Fablehouse is actually the name of the house where all children who have been excluded live there happily. I loved the concept of fablehouse where it actually protects the naive children from all the terror and hatred in the outside world.

She gave me some 'not like other girls' vibes, but I think her character has a bit more depth than this stereotype. Telling this book from her POV was a good choice. Nothing comes free, Fable. We both know that surviving means sometimes doing things that haunt you.”A powerful and important book, bursting with hope and wonder. Fablehouse is a glorious celebration of friendship ' - Tola Okogwu, author of Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun If you are looking for a YA book that has an almost non-existent plot line, but a great MC and some amazing world building, then this is the book for you. If not, I'd say give it a pass. This left off on such a great cliffhanger; the perfect set-up for Namesake. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys an adventure on the high seas! Heather has already been through several children’s homes and is wary of Fablehouse and its unusual head teacher, Miss Isolde. But when children start acting strangely, Heather discovers a plot from a fae realm to infiltrate and overthrow the human world.

It wasn’t uncommon for women to crew ships, but they were definitely outnumbered. And the softer you looked, the more likely you were to become prey. Gemma is torn between leaving and staying to take care of Kas, while he's not even sure what's real and what's in his head. And YET, I am still rating this a 4-star read. Honestly, I am Pepper Winter's trash. I will literally devour whatever she read, because at least when it comes to her books, there is no cheating, and we can expect a good amount of PLOT.I invented all the temptations in the fae world, and I am very proud of them. Also, the chapter where the characters discover someone has been turned by the fae had me in actual tears and again, came out of nowhere in one session. In the second installment of FOH, both Gemma and Kas will have to put aside their pain, hurt, anger, and deep need for each other and prepare for the deadly winter that's just around the corner.

Her research is extensive and painfully accurate, it made me feel anxious at times seeing Kas writhing in agony trapped in his mind. How debilitated and helpless he must feel, tripping over himself, falling and breaking his own heart. There is an amazing woman who has been in publishing for years and she’s a writer herself, called Jasmine Richards. Four years ago she set up her company, StoryMix.I will take your heart. I will unearth all the love that you've supressed so, so deep inside you, and I will make you curse the very day you decided to trap me." Love kept us trapped. Love kept us suffering. Love was the most agonizing thing I’ve ever endured," The story itself was riveting in some ways, but there were a few reasons I dropped this down to 3 stars. Here’s the good and the bad…..
