About this deal

The growth Auren went through from the beginning to the end was amazing. Although some realizations took awhile—of course I got where she was coming from😭 the frustration I felt... but when she finally opened her eyes, I so loved that moment. I'm excited to see her character develop even more from here on out and hopefully watch her deliver some pain towards *cough* certain bastards :) People will want to fight me on this and I'm ready, waiting and prepared to go to battle ... cause you know NOTHING happened. 😇 This was a buddy read with beautiful Vio! I had so much fun, getting to read it with you <3333 (and the FULLY CAPITALISED dms!)

The magic in this book is mysterious and timid in the number of appearances, but it still give us a rather immense impression in its power and quality. We get some little info about the magical abilities of the inhabitants of Orea, but it is still intriguing enough for me to desperately want to know more about it in the next book, since we're given hints that many things will be explained later. Following it's earlier footsteps, this book was also pretty slow. Things took so long to progress but I've committed to this book. For so long, I’ve swallowed my own tongue. I’ve tamped down every emotion, careful to ride every tide in the hopes that I don’t become submerged.Even though the writing style kinda threw me off at the start I still enjoyed ALL of it. I loved it! And I know for a fact that even though it started off slow I can’t in good conscience give this less than 5 stars. But returning home means facing danger and secrets. So I have to burn bright enough to light my own way… I skimmed through most of it because nothing much was happening and the main character committed the worst book crime imaginable and was completely uninteresting. I felt no connection to her and spent the majority of the book hating every stupid thing that came out of her mouth. There's naivety and then theres just plain stupidity and Auren is definitely the latter. That cliffhanger was cruel though *sobbing* Why do I keep starting series that are incomplete?? I just end up suffering because of the wait... I really need to stop doing this i could never I am not one of the many that seemed to love this book. In fact, it may have ruined the series for me. While I appreciated seeing Auren become more independent, I had some major problems with the romance.

The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, and wiped out Seventh Kingdom in the process. He has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all. He’s sinister and powerful and entirely too seductive. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? I need to tread carefully, or I’m at risk of losing much more than just my freedom. Midas Midas Midas. I held very little hope for you and you just squashed it you greedy little pig. That is all I am giving you. This series keeps on getting better with each book, and the last 20% of this one were SO INTENSE! I am just so glad that the fourth book is released because I don't know how I would have been able to wait to know what happened to Slade and Auren. I also really liked the little we saw of Slade's Wrath, and I really hope to see more of them in the next book, because I adored their "found family" vibe in the second book, and I really felt that it helped Auren with her healing process.I haven't been reading as much lately ever since those new Animal Crossing updates came out, but I wanted to make time to finish this because GILD has been haunting my Bookstagram feed for a hot minute and I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. The best way to describe GILD is like if Game of Thrones had just a *little* less rape and graphic violence (but basically the same amount of smut), or if FROM BLOOD AND ASH were less ridiculous, or if ACOTAR was solely set in the under-the-mountain scene and was even heavier on the douchebag males and mixed messages. That brings me to all the repulsive men in this book. Literally only two of them were good, but the rest omg no no I don't think I've ever felt a stronger urge to murder some characters. Here's a sneak peak of the things said- It's actually insane how vastly different my rating for book 1 and 3 are, but I can definitely say that I don't regret reading this series. I’ve wanted you since the moment I laid eyes on you, Goldfinch. I was just waiting for you to catch up.”

It was kind of hard to predict how the events would unfold and that is not necessarily a bad thing because it kept me on edge and I really enjoyed that. Also I wasn’t expecting any of them to be different colours and have stuff attached on their bodies but I ate that up bc Rip having thorns? Gimme more. And her having ribbons that are powerful and shit? Spoon feed me. Omg Will the fact that she has powers make her queen of something? Do you ever just get that heavy feeling in your chest? Like you've just read one of the best books ever and now that new love has been placed into your heart? no? just me💀 There's something there in his voice. A caress that smoothed over its harsh edges and slid over my skin. It scares me, even as it draws me in. If you insist on lying, at least be better at it.” He’s got it wrong there. I am fine, and I’m also excellent at lying. After all, I’ve been lying to myself for years. Pretty lies cover up a lot of ugly truths. Can I really fall in love when the cities around me threaten to crumble and my fate hangs in the balance?
