Description

The AMD RX 6900 XT increased the most in price, possibly due to a greater than expected drop in price last month. The card with the most volume, and in close competition to the RTX 3070, the Radeon RX 6700 XT, increased in price by 8 percent. Meanwhile, the scalper volume of AMD's higher end GPUs is very low, suggesting that AMD is mostly making their mid-range offerings at the moment. While RTX and DLSS are the two standout features of the new Turing graphics cards, they're far from the only new additions. Nvidia have also included new shading models, such as mesh shading, which allow graphics cards to have greater control over level of detail settings. That could result in performance gains without any regressions in image quality. Variable rate shading is another clever addition which focuses processing power on scene elements that players are likely to be looking at. A Wolfenstein 2 demo suggests that we could see a healthy 15 to 20 per percent frame-rate boost when the feature is enabled, although as usual, developers will need to specifically implement these new shaders in their games for the advantages to be realised.

The new RTX branding for the new Turing cards suggest a seismic shift in what GPUs can do, so we'll first look at these new features to see whether they're worth the early adopter tax. Real-time ray tracing (RTX) offers more realistic visuals and deep learning super sampling (DLSS) could provide a performance advantage, but how many games support this new technology and what kind of numbers are we talking about? There are other new additions too, so it's worth discussing all of this in a little more detail so you can know what you're getting yourself into. What that means in terms of value for your money is that performance scales more in line with pricing. The 1080 Ti costs 40 percent more than the GTX 1080 and performs—in GPU limited scenarios—about 30-35 percent faster. The 1080 costs 43 percent more than the 1070 and outperforms it by about 25 percent—not perfectly linear scaling, but much better than the previous 60 percent price premium. And if you want to go further down the chain, the 1070 outperforms the 1060 6GB by about 40 percent, with a 46 percent price increase. The RTX 3070 and 6700 XT remain quite expensive, and higher end models are either completely unavailable or still sitting on shelves at ridiculously inflated prices. That's something to keep an eye on in upcoming months. The GeForce series of graphics cards are powered by Pascal architecture to deliver up to 3 times the performance of previous-generation graphics cards. Moving on to F1 22 we have another game where the GTX 1080 Ti is delivering exceptional performance with 201 fps at 1080p using the high quality preset. That said, the 1080 Ti did fare a lot better at 1440p as the 5700 XT was 18% faster and the RTX 3060 just 11% faster, so not too bad, though we are only looking at 57 fps on average. Finally, streamers and game video creators will be able to take advantage of an upgraded NVENC encoder. This more efficient hardware and software combination supports a wider range of video standards and should allow for higher resolutions too. More importantly, the encoder uses less CPU resources than its predecessor, especially at high resolutions, which could allow mainstream gaming PCs to stream at full 4K resolution. Overall, the price to performance is about perfect with the Duke. You don't pay an extra hundred or more for a handful of mhz, but you still get 25 to 35 percent better performance than the next best video card on the market. Now sure, you do pay more than 25 percent for the jump, but consider it this way: that extra money you do pay allows you to cross a line. Below that line, you can play most anything now at 1080 or better. Above it, with this card, you can play at 4k, usually at ultra settings, and you can rest easy that you won't actually *need a new video card until 8k (inevitably) breaks into the scene. By contrast, all the games where the 1080 Ti lost by double-digit margins were released in the last two years. Overall though, these two GPUs are roughly on par in terms of performance. Upon release, the RTX 3080 was almost 60% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti at 1440p and almost 80% faster at 4K, which is a massive upgrade for those holding out. As we've mentioned before though, right now we don't recommend buying a high-end GPU with next gen models just around the corner. Starting with Hitman 3, we find that the GTX 1080 Ti is still a very capable graphics card, despite coming in well behind both the 5700 XT and RTX 3060. The 1080p results see it roughly match the RTX 2060 Super, which means it was 16% slower than the 5700 XT and 12% slower than the RTX 3060.Anyway, all GPUs were tested here with RT effects disabled and that means the 1080 Ti and 3060 are basically identical in terms of performance, and so is the 5700 XT. There was a big push during the launch event about virtual reality. VR has grown in popularity among gamers and tech enthusiast; it therefore comes as no surprise that Nvidia’s event talked about the integration of the new GPUs within a virtual reality environment. Affecting Ethereum mining this month was the rollout of the new EIP1559 protocol upgrade. If you wonder how this affects mining revenue, the answer is simple: due to the way it burns transaction fees, the upgrade reduces the payout to miners for processing transactions. Like with difficulty spikes, while the reward in Ethereum is now lower, the value of Ethereum has increased, so it's a tug-of-war situation. Intel Arc is the new player in the GPU arena and is currently facing fierce competition with AMD & Nvidia. With the most enticing price and performances never seen before, Intel is taking the lead in the best midrange GPU brands. You can find the Intel Arc series cards for gaming and content creation in BD from Star Tech. NVIDIA Graphics Card Then we get to AMD's Radeon RX 5000 series, and like in prior months it makes absolutely no sense for a gamer to consider these GPUs as a used upgrade option. The prices of cards like the 5700 XT remain high as the RDNA architecture is good for mining, punching well above its weight. If owners of the 5700 XT haven't already upgraded to something like the RX 6700 XT basically for free, then they should be seriously considering it if gaming is their primary use for these cards. Temperature and noise are exceptional. I'm struggling to hear it over normal 120mm case fans even at full load. My case is pretty breezy, but I haven't exceeded 70C yet. I'm definitely impressed by that, and at least it justifies the Duke's otherwise-absurd cooler size.

But for heavy users, such as gamers and video editors, a discrete graphics card is better suited as they require high-speed image processing time for their tasks. Without this feature, they may find lags at crucial points in their gaming and editing processes. This graphics card is one of the most powerful ones that exist in the market. It boasts incredible computing horsepower and groundbreaking NVIDIA Pascal architecture to give your computer all the power it needs to accomplish almost heavy computing tasks at hand. s The Witcher 3 remains a favourite for gamers and system builders alike, as we evaluate performance by a good old-fashioned Roach ride through the muddy streets of Novigrad. The RTX 2080 Ti manages a solid result of 77fps on average, compared to 60fps for the RTX 2080 - a differential of around 22 per cent. The GTX 1080 Ti is also competitive at 64fps average, so it's another solid result for the older card here. The Witcher 3: Ultra, POST-AA, No Hairworks

There are a few other glimmers of positivity here. Nvidia is clearly transitioning significant portions of their GPU offerings to LHR GPUs, which are now forming the majority of sales for some graphics cards such as the RTX 3060 Ti. Even with the latest developments raising the LHR limit cap, these cards are more accessible and affordable for gamers. The LHR program has received its share of criticism, but it will be interesting to hear from actual users what you think of it now that it seems to be helping lower GPU prices. Pascal works really well in God of War and here the GTX 1080 Ti can be seen delivering RTX 3060-like performance, making it slightly faster than the 5700 XT and RTX 2060 Super. A good result for the old GeForce GPU. The GTX 1080 Ti is able to hit full stride in older games such as War Thunder, where it's actually quite a bit faster than not just the 5700 XT, but also newer mid-range GeForce GPUs such as the RTX 3060. Now looking at the 5700 XT comparison at 1440p, we find that performance is a tie overall, which is probably more impressive for the Radeon GPU given it was quite a bit cheaper, though it did arrive two years later, so that's to be expected even in today's GPU market.GeForce GTX graphics cards are the most advanced ever created. Discover unprecedented performance, power efficiency, and next-generation gaming experiences. Realizing the high market potential of graphics cards for gaming PC, manufacturers bring specially developed gaming graphics cards. A gaming GPU gets treated with unique features, such as a superior thermal solution and a chance to integrate multiple displays. These gaming graphics cards are also treated with premium material, and RGB looks, complementing a gaming system. With a fair price offered for gamers, gaming GPUs are often labeled with Super, OC, or TI & XT. What is Ti Vs. Super Vs. OC in Graphics Cards? Next we have Rainbow Six Siege and this is another older title which Pascal will be well optimized for. As a result the GTX 1080 Ti does really well, pumping out well over 300 fps at 1080p, placing it alongside the 5700 XT and RTX 3060. We continue with Assassin's Creed Unity, the 2014 release that saw protagonist Arno stalk the streets of Revolution-era Paris. The RTX 2080 Ti is the only card that is able to break a 60fps average at 4K, dipping below the prescribed frame-rate only when detailed characters are large on the screen at the ultra high preset that we've chosen. The GTX 1080 Ti is about 28 per cent behind, recording an average of 43fps. That means you'd need to make visual tweaks to achieve a 60fps average on the 1080 Ti, but not on the newer card - progress! AC Unity: Ultra High, FXAA
