About this deal

War turns out to be one theme threaded throughout the history of the publisher. Work shortages during the First World War inspired Wills & Hepworth – the owners of Ladybird – to print children's books to maintain steady production.

In the 1960s, Ladybird produced the Learnabout series of non-fiction (informational) books, some of which were used by adults as well as children. The stepsisters duly attended and on the first night, Cinderella bemoaned her situation and a fairy godmother appeared and changed her life significantly by turning everyday objects into everything that she needed to attend the balls in a beautiful carriage with her own footmen. The prince was enchanted with her and danced with her all the time over the three nights. A more in-depth and traditional version of the Cinderella tale, the illustrations by Eric Winter are simply breathtaking! Cinderella goes to the ball three times, and each gown is stunning (my favorite was always dress #2 with dress #3 coming in a close 2nd - dress #1 is beautiful too). a b joint venture with Amperwelle Studio München Programmanbietergesellschaft, Axel Springer AG, Burda, Studio Gong, m.b.t. Mediengesellschaft der bayerischen Tageszeitungen für Kabelkommunikation, Medienpool and Radio Bavaria Rundfunkprogrammgesellschaft. Even so she was a lovely girl and her stepsisters were jealous of her so did their very best to keep her subdued. So when it came to a series of balls over three days to promote his son, Cinderella was not even in the conversation when it came to dressing up and attending. But she had to help her stepsisters to dress and prepare themselves.

Ladybird began publishing books in other formats in 1980. Most of the remaining titles in the classic format were withdrawn in 1999 when their printing facility in Loughborough closed. In The Three Little Pigs, a porcine family finds out which style of architecture will best repel a predator.
