When this set was revealed, I found the taxi decidedly underwhelming, based primarily on its seemingly awkward shape. However, this model is more attractive than I expected and I think the first image was unflattering. The proportions of the vehicle are realistic and the curvature of its bonnet and windscreen looks superb, which is something LEGO cars often struggle with. And while the curbside scenery would take some modification to work into a Modular Building layout, the use of Medium Stone Grey curbstones and Dark Stone Grey paving stones seems like deliberate invitation for builders to make those modifications. The signal lamp/sign marking the taxi stop makes a great new type of street furniture to add to a layout, and uses common enough parts that it can be easily be duplicated to create additional stops for a larger layout.

You can see more photos and details on their review but the 163-piece set comes with an old-school taxi, a street section, and what looks like the Doughnut Thief, who you may recall from the 2020 Police Station Modular, who seems to have cleaned up his ways and has made a career change from illicit sugary treats/news publishing to transportation. Thankfully after a swift message to LEGO support I received one in the post and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful.Thank you for reading through our review of the LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) set, we hope you e joyed it as much as we did. Including a Minifigure in these GWP sets is always a nice touch and one we’ve come to appreciate, as not only are most exclusive, or at least exclusive combinations of parts, to the set and pull in collectors, but they’re an important part of the whole play experience Being such a small set there aren’t numbers on the bags but there are three of them in total and an instruction manual, which again is nice and small, perfect to slip into the box. I think a lot of people would have... It would be another "Maersk-blue construction hat situation". Is he the driver or the passenger? If the former, is he moonlighting as a cabbie, and why does he have what is presumably luggage? If the latter, where's the driver?

For those of you that hate vehicles in modular sets (there have only been three so I don't understand what all the whinging is about), I would like to know how this taxi would have 'completely ruined' Boutique Hotel, had it been included? The single minifigure included in this set doesn’t have any unique pieces, but the combination is new, making him one of those “somewhat exclusive” characters. His head has had 11 other appearances across many themes. (In fact, this is the clone of the chef from the 10260 Downtown Diner.) Focusing on the front of the Taxi you’ll see a handful of 1×1 clear studs that represent the headlights and such, you’ll also see the very impressive grille piece that is again moulded and not build-built, which is fine as this element isn’t seen to often and does fit the look and feel of the era the Car is from. The curves that run along each side are again seen at the front and add to the whole aesthetic. As is usual for minifig-scale cars nowadays there are no doors, so access to the interior is by removing the roof.

And truth be told, even at the standard of detail we've come to expect in adult-targeted sets like the Modular Buildings Collection, there's a LOT of stuff even in the buildings alike that gets "condensed" in one way or another due to the practical limitations of the scale. Take the amount needed out of the equation and it’s totally worth it and a joy to build and display, it sits perfectly alongside the LEGO Boutique Hotel (10297) and rightfully so, its from the same are after all! The set comes with a single minifigure. Is he the driver of the cab? Is he a passenger? All we know for sure is that he has a 1×1 round printed donut tile in that suitcase. Another hidden detail…another mystery from the designers! Or maybe this dude just likes donuts. Overall the LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) GWP set is great and well worth getting, although the spend limit needed is, in my opinion, way to steep and so makes the decision to grab a very difficult decision to make. The inclusion of the small strip of sidewalk makes this set feel more like a tiny vignette than “just” a car and driver. A second minifigure would have been a nice addition, though. Even if it would just help us know if this is a self-driving Vintage Tesla Taxi or not.
