The straps are really long when fully extended which I found a real positive, making it super easy to get even the most wriggly of children in and out. The straps also have a rubber underside, making it harder for younger babies to slip out of the harness and keeping the protective shoulder pads in place. The seat comes with a highly padded and very cozy looking newborn inlay, which in our case wasn’t required, however, had I been using with Neve from newborn, I would have been confident that she would have been snug and secure in this seat. The handle to spin it around isn't the easiest to use as you have to twist your hand to an odd angle. We did find ourselves fumbling a bit in the dark to locate it. There are four reclining positions in both directions on the Maxi Cosi AxissFix Plus – great for snoozing on the go, which Neve tends to do the minute we get in the car! This is an extended rear-facing car seat that can be used from birth (with the Comfy Baby-Hugg Inlay, sold separately) until your child is four years old (or 105cm). So that means you'd have to buy another car seat for newborns. It seems Maxi-Cosi has overcome this problem though because from late 2016 this seat has been superceded by the newer AxissFix Plus, which is suitable from birth thanks to a new padded insert. The seat took about 10 minutes to install and whilst straightforward, we wouldn’t want to be swapping from one car to another with this seat regularly due to the tether in the boot (my boot is usually pretty full of rubbish!). As such, we will be using this as a permanently fixed seat in just the one car.

Mike installed the seat for me, however, I think it was so straight forward that I may have been able to do this on my own without assistance (this is a rarity!).
