Description

Largest view refers to Find N2 Flip’s 3.26” cover screen. As of February 2023, the 3.26” cover screen is the largest among all vertical foldable smartphones. Oppo’s ColorOS is a heavily customised version of Android 13, with a colourful design and features that are more familiar in Asia than is the case with most of the Android phones sold in the west. Overall, the cameras on the N2 Flip are nothing to write home about, lagging most high-end competitors at this price but perfectly fine for general snaps. Price Benchmarks placed it just where I'd expected it, on or a fraction behind equivalent Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-powered phones, without leaning on the phone's high-performance mode – hidden away in the settings so as not to inadvertently besmirch the good name of the phone's promised (as realized) long battery life. One area where the Find N2 Flip can't compete against the Flip 4 is in the US. Oppo's new phone has no expected presence in one of Samsung's biggest international markets.

However, it’s the internal display really is where the Oppo Find N2 Flip stands head and shoulders above the rest of the clamshell foldable competition. Depending on what you're asking of the Find N2 Flip, if you're looking for like-for-like benchmarking scores to equivalent Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-powered phones, you'll have to dip into the phone's settings and manually enable 'high performance mode'. Otherwise, its default, more balanced performance profile produces more modest numbers. However, the difference between the two profiles isn't vast, so I'd recommend leaving the power profile well alone most of the time. That TÜV Rhineland certification doesn't just cover the hinge for 400,000 folding cycles but the display itself too, with multi-layered construction that features an anti-reflective film Oppo claims is five times less reflective than competing foldable displays, which sounds impressive on paper but in practice doesn't stop the screen from catching reflections (or smudges, for that matter). The N2 Flip has a main 50-megapixel and 8MP ultrawide camera on the outside and a 32MP camera on the inside screen.Of course, battery performance will vary depending on what you’re doing, with streaming Netflix using just 8% in an hour while light gaming will drain a little more at 7% in just half an hour, and heavy gaming will push that to 13% in 30 minutes, but for most people, it should be an all-day device.

After folding the phone for 24 hours, Find N2 Flip is able to stand on its own when unfolded at any angle between 45-110 degrees. The angle may vary depending on differences in phone usage time or individual devices. A clean design with a sturdy hinge and nice details. Oppo hasn't matched Samsung's ingress protection, though. Fire up the camera on the Find N2 Flip and you’ll have the choice of using two lenses: a 50 megapixel (MP) wide, and an 8MP ultrawide. Unsurprisingly, it’s the primary lens that shoots the best pictures out of the two. While testing on the wet streets of London, we found it accurately captures the rain-soaked pavements, and there was more than enough detail in the shot when viewed on the phone’s display. The ultrawide was significantly less impressive during our tests, with the results being a little more washed out and pixelated when zoomed in. Geekbench ML was used to quantify the phone's machine learning prowess, however, like the only other Dimensity 9000 Plus phone we've tested with this app (the ROG 6D Ultimate), the benchmark was never able to complete, for some unknown compatibility reason. The ultrawide camera is poor, however, producing dark, grey shots – something I would use only in bright conditions.A capable all-round camera phone augmented by FlexForm functionality and impressive digital stabilization. The inner display is an AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,520 x 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 50MP main camera sits on the outside cover, above an 8MP 112-degree ultrawide. A 32MP selfie camera is embedded in a hole punch notch at the top-centre of the screen. Oppo Find N2 Flip review: Price and competition Of course, that’s just synthetic benchmarks. In real-world use, the Find N2 Flip feels as rapid and responsive as you’d expect from a flagship smartphone. Apps open instantly, there’s no stutter or lag when scrolling and it can run just about any Android game without worry. It’s just not the fastest phone you can buy in 2023. The main camera is pretty good, shooting generally well-detailed and properly exposed images in good and medium light, but photos can look a bit grey in dimmer settings. Low-light performance is reasonable, as are portrait shots, but there’s no macrophotography mode available.
