About this deal

In 1869, Fayette R. Plumb entered a partnership with Jonathan Yerkes, an established hammer manufacturer operating in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia. Shortly thereafter, a new facility was built in the Bridesburg neighborhood of that city, operating as Yerkes & Plumb. The firm was one of the first in the United States to use cast steel to manufacture tools. [2] Yerkes retired in April 1886, and Plumb bought out Yerkes' interest in the company the following year. By 1888, the company was operating solely under the Plumb name. [3] There are many different types of hammers which are all shaped perfectly to create an end result – the list includes:- Claw hammer Can you imagine the individual force drawn down upon a hammerhead not to imagine the cumulative force over the life of a hammerhead? These elements of the hammer are created during a process called “hot forging” which sees a steel bar heated to temperatures approaching 2350°F (1300°C). This process softens the steel bars which can then be manipulated into the shape of a hammerhead using an array of dies. One of the dies is static while another is brought down with force creating immense pressure which moulds the molten steel into the required shape.

The engineering hammer is a hard wearing durable tool which has traditionally been used for locomotive repairs and other similar activities. It has a rounded head and a cross peen which makes it ideal for particularly difficult repairs. The term is also used to describe ball peen hammers and rounded double head hammers. As the name suggest, the brass hammer has a brass cylindrical double head which is perfect for hammering steel pins into different materials without damaging the surrounding area. While useful in an array of different scenarios, it is most often used in the automotive industry and traditional woodwork shops.

With chrome plated heads Thorex hammers are fitted with two durable white nylon faces providing a safe and effective blow to metal and other materials which may be damaged by a conventional steel hammer Sometimes, excessive water pressure in your pipes causes water hammer, in which case emptying the air chamber of water or installing a water arrestor offers only temporary help.First, try to locate the source of the noise. If it is coming from a faucet, simply turn it off slowly to allow the water pressure to equalize. Ball Pein hammers are used universally for engineering and metal working. They have a round ballpein end and a flat conventional end, both are hardened and tempered. While hammer welding itself may be an art form which is fast disappearing from the modern day world, a welder’s hammer is a very useful reminder of days gone by. This particular tool is used to remove waste material from round a weld with both a pointed tool and a chisel tool on either side of the hammerhead.
