Description

Fiber blends with at least 60% cotton or other dyeable fiber (blends will tint evenly but will not achieve full color)

This SINGER® HEAVY DUTY sewing machine is a true workhorse. With a heavy duty metal interior frame, stainless steel bedplate, extra-high sewing speed and powerful motor, it can sew through just about anything you throw at it. Convenience features including top drop-in bobbin, fully automatic 4-step buttonhole and drop feed for free motion sewing adds a new dimension of ease to heavy duty sewing. If you are using Rit DyeMore Synthetic Dye, we recommend first heating up the dyebath on your stove to almost boiling. The most realistic test would be to use a scrap piece of fabric from the garment you are dyeing and leave it in the dyebath for 5 minutes. If a scrap piece of fabric isn’t available, then use a fabric swatch that has a similar fiber makeup as the garment (if available). Unfortunately, due to the complexities of dyeing synthetics, using a paper towel to test color will not give you a close representation of how the color will appear on your synthetic garment. It is worth a try if you do not have a fabric swatch available, but please keep in mind that it won’t provide you with an exact match. Whether you are looking to refresh the colors of your wardrobe, ombre-dye curtains for your bedroom, rejuvenate old garments, coordinate home decor,or hide laundry accidents, Rit Dye can help you get there. When desired color is achieved, remove from dyebath. Fabric will look darker when wet and will dry lighter. Squeeze out excess dye.If dyeing natural fibers like cotton or linen, add 1 cup 240 mL of salt to the dyebath. If dyeing silk or nylon, add 1 cup 240 mL of white vinegar to the dyebath. Mix well. The Singer 4411 Heavy Duty is a great machine for general sewing. It is the perfect machine if you would like to make clothing but don't need 100's of fancy stitch types. It does all the basics so well and is the closest thing to an industrial machine on the domestic market. This machine is made for heavy fabrics and will do an immaculate job of Jean hems and other heavy jobs. The difference between the 4411 and the 4432 are that the 4432 has an easy to use 1-step buttonhole, an automatic needle threader and an extra 21 stitch types.

We do not recommend using a front loading washing machine to dye extra large items or multiple items. Disclaimer: With so many generations of washing machines in the market, it’s difficult to pin point a precise process as it differs across brands. Please follow these instructions as a general guideline and use at your own discretion. Before dyeing, remove any visible stains on the garment. This will help achieve uniform color results when dyeing. Pre-wash item in warm, soapy water without any fabric softener. This helps to remove any finishes that may interfere with dye absorption. The Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is an all new heavy duty sewing machine, which is a true work horse. With a stainless steel bedplate and over 1,000 stitches per minute this machine is a true winner! Test color by dipping a paper towel into the dyebath. If color is too light, add more dye. If color is too dark, add more water. To enhance the color and reduce color bleeding, use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing and before washing, following these instructions. Shake liquid dye bottle and mix dye with 4 cups 950 mL of hot water. Powder dye should be pre-dissolved in 2 cups 470 mL of hot water. Add diluted dye to the basin.

Wearing rubber gloves, mix powder or well-shaken liquid dye with 4 cups 950 mL of very hot water. Stir well. You cannot use your washing machine as it won’t be able to achieve the water temperature needed for Rit DyeMore to penetrate the fabric. The best fabric dyeing procedure depends on the project, fabric, and choice of fabric dye. For example, if you want a more fully saturated result, Jacquard Acid Dyes on silk, wool, linen, or cotton can yield the best results. Or, if you have a tie-dye project in mind, a kit with individual application bottles helps you achieve the look you want. For the best dye job, always choose a fabric dye designed with your fabric type in mind and follow the instructions on the box.Items should be in the dyebath for a minimum of thirty minutes to a maximum of one hour before the rinse cycle begins. Use an extended setting, or reset the setting before the rinse cycle starts to extend the wash time. Note that the longer the item is in the dyebath, the darker the color will be. For bulky items, such as draperies or large slipcovers, we recommend stopping the wash load periodically to detangle and unwind the item. This will help prevent uneven dyeing and lighter areas from forming. Remember to wear rubber gloves when handling the item mid-cycle.

With so many diverse synthetic fabric iterations on the market, Rit thought it was high time to offer a dye capable of taking those very fabrics to the next level. That’s why Rit introduced Rit DyeMore, a dye specially made for synthetic fabrics like polyester, polyester cotton blends, acrylic, and acetate. And like the All-Purpose formula, DyeMore is non-toxic and perfect for use in the home. When water begins to simmer, pour dissolved powder dye or well-shaken liquid dye into dyebath and mix well. If dyeing a blend containing cotton, linen, rayon or ramie, use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing and before washing to enhance the color and reduce color bleeding. Scaling: All formulas are automatically scalable to meet your needs. Just select the dyebath size that fits the item you are dyeing and the formula will automatically update.

Powder to Liquid Conversion Chart

Washable Fabrics Containing Cotton Synthetic Blends: Such as polyester cotton blends that contain less than 35% polyester Quantity: One bottle will dye one pound of dry polyester fabric. If dyeing acetate, acrylic or nylon, one bottle will dye two pounds of dry fabric If the color is too light, add more dye; if the color is too dark, add more water. If more dye is needed, add dye in increments of 1/4 – 1 teaspoon 1.25 – 5 mL , depending upon the recipe or amount of fabric being dyed. If the color is too dark, add hot water in 1-2 cup / 200-400 mL increments, depending upon the size of the dyebath and the amount of fabric being dyed. If you are dyeing synthetic fabric (i.e. fabric containing more than 35% polyester, acrylic or acetate), then you cannot use this method. Due to the complexity of dyeing synthetics, you must use the stovetop method to maintain an almost boiling temperature for the duration of your dyeing.
