Slam Dunk used this approach too. I personally don't like this approach, that's why I gave 3 star for first volume. And there is the mandatory silly jokes by silly characters at the beginning. His illustrations have always been a highlight for me and I was always amazed of how he captured movements, the offensive and defensive stances to how the players penetrate the perimeter and score. The detail of Inoue’s artwork is just wonderful and I look forward to volume 3!

Also, this story has relatively happy ending? It’s more bittersweet and ambiguous, but that is just another aspect that makes this story so great. Es handelt sich um eine innere wie auch äussere Reise eines jungen Mannes, der durch die richtige Motivation und Führung in ihm schlummernde Fähigkeiten durch viel Arbeit und Disziplin freisetzt. Daher ist es auch für den Leser eine durchaus motivierende Lektüre, ob das jetzt auf Sport bezogen sei oder nicht. Ohne Fleiss kein Preis, wie man auch hier schön sieht.
