And that’s it for Day 6! It’s a really strong model, and something that fits in really well with the Stormtrooper minifigure. First introduced in Rogue One, and immortalised as its own LEGO set 75251, this is such a great take on Darth Vader’s emo lair. To boost the starfighter’s speed, lightweight components were used, and many trimmings usually found in other starfighter like Astromech Droids are notably missing from the A-Wing, which is why only the best pilots were entrustred to fly the A-Wing. And there’s Grogu in a holiday sweater, enjoying the season while Tusken Raiders launch snowballs at stormtroopers. Aside from the microdolls which are unique to this set, there aren’t any new parts. That said, there are a few new printed parts, and parts in new colors. So when designing, we want to keep builds easy to read and minimize the amount of parts. We look for elements that are as close to resembling the different shapes found on a vehicle and avoid building it out. The 2020 Star Wars Advent Calendar continues to deliver, and Day 3 is no exception with a delightful rendition of Lars Homestead from Tattooine, home of the Lars family that raised Luke Skywalker. And now together with the Stormtrooper, the Tusken Raider can practice his aim – so that’s why we got 2 Targets!

In LEGO Star Wars, Landspeeders have always been dark orange/red thanks to Luke’s Landspeeder, but this blue variant is a great alternative, and yet another great use of an Advent Calendar window to spotlight a fairly obscure vehicle from The Mandalorian! It’s always a good day to see a familiar ship, and I really like how clean this year’s X-Wing looks like, even if it is very very similar to the 2020 mini X-Wing. I do wish that we got a slightly different head, perhaps with a more unique face rather than the generic Stormtrooper face underneath. For many models, we’ve been able to see a clear progression of designs, and are often upgrades. Putting them side by side, I think I actually prefer the 2014 version better!

I love the festive Din Djarin, the scarf was a lovely disguise. Somehow I couldn’t see him in a sweater. The profile and proportions could be improved slightly, and the exposed studs on the side are not the best aesthetic choices, as the Razor Crest is best known for its sleek, metallic exterior.
