About this deal

Classic steam irons should be more than powerful enough for everyday household use, letting out steam to moisten and relax the fabric before you remove the creases. Self-cleaning: heat the iron, unplug it, remove the anti-calc valve and spray the iron over the sink.

Our permanent guides to the best heated clothes airers, best washing machines, best washer dryers, and best tumble dryers may also come in handy. If you prefer a compact design, this steam iron will fulfill that requirement. The sleek and compact design means that it will be effortless to handle design. Apart from this, other features help it stand out. We will describe those features below. Features of Tefal FV9830 Convenient: With a soft-grip handle for comfort, a 350ml tank to avoid constant refills, and 3m power cord that gives you plenty of room to manoeuvre, Ultimate Pure takes the hassle out of ironing.

How does it feel to hold?

Breville’s iron isn’t called the DiamondXpress for no reason: you’ll find actual crushed diamonds in the soleplate, which Breville says improves longevity as well as glide. The iron is light and has a slightly smaller soleplate than some of the others we tested; however, the soleplate is wide and multi-directional which makes it very easy to manoeuvre around an ironing board. It was also one of the most stable irons in a standing position and has a nice, soft handle that feels comfortable in the hand. There’s also plenty of steam produced, making it easy to remove wrinkles without too much effort. Again, the auto-shut off function provides peace of mind; and a ceramic sole plate means it glides smoothly. You can also use it for vertical steaming, on clothes which are hanging up, as well as on your ironing board. With 2600w of power, it doesn’t get quite as hot and steamy as the Tefal Ultimate Pure – but I liked the spray nozzle and option to use a 210g steam shot to get rid of entrenched creases (although you have to wait four seconds between each shot).

The consistent steam generation which it has on offer is 50 5G per minute. In the boost-mode, it can generate up to 240 G per minute. Both these specifications ensure that the steam which you get is more than enough. Couple this with the powerful heating element, and you cannot ignore this steam iron. The "supersteam" or "turbo" function should not be used intensively – wait a few seconds between pressing the button. Why does my iron release steam once the tank is filled?

The most powerful Tefal steam iron that stops limescale stains** on clothes. Only Ultimate Pure features the exclusive and patented MicroScale filter technology, a two-in-one innovation that stops scale* and produces pure steam for ultimate ironing. Here’s how it works: steam, polluted by limescale in the steam chamber, enters the filter. The filter captures even the smallest of scale particles** and produces 100% filtered, pure steam – so, you can iron without the worry of scale staining your clothes. It’s easy to clean, too: just pull it out to remove the scale in one go. Combined with Tefal’s most powerful steam – up to 60g/min continuous and a 260g/min steam boost – this guarantees perfect ironing results. Note: Never use the vertical steam function on an item being worn by anyone. Can I use my steam iron for Dry Ironing? is standard for a handheld steam iron and proved more than adequate in my tests. Cordless models, as Teresa says, tend to be less powerful at 2400W. My best buy, the Tefal, is an impressive 3100W. What are the different types of steam irons?

User manual and frequently asked questions ULTIMATE PURE FV9830G0

Water tank capacity: To avoid adding extra weight, look for a small tank (although not so small that you constantly have to refill it). This is not only to avoid overheating of the iron or the surface on which it is placed but also to ensure that no-one gets burned. If safety is one of your main concerns, choose an iron that has an automatic cut-off function. The clothes have not been rinsed enough and there is detergent left on them or you have ironed a new item of clothing before washing it. We were really impressed with the huge amounts of steam, which was consistent and easily controlled with an on/off button. There are three settings for steam on the iron and a concentrated steam zone at the front of the iron to make it easier to remove creases. It also works as a vertical steamer, although you’ll probably still need to iron the fiddlier parts of a garment flat. Reposition the anti-calc valve into your iron. Warning! Never touch the end of the anti-calc valve.
