Despite its fougere-like barbershopness, Prada’s debut masculine is a scent that one can spritz on as liberally as a cologne, acting as a more luxurious, more suave alternative. It’s been a staple of mine for many years, and as far as I am concerned, that is enough endorsement.

The sillage is pretty strong at first, but it does become more moderate for the rest of the wear. It is noticeable, but not completely in your face, with its power.This one has been reformulated over the years, so, it probably won’t exactly smell how it used to be. Not too much of a problem, if you’re new to it. Honestly, it still has plenty of life and I have to say that I find it pretty enjoyable. Super high quality and very masculine in a classic Fougère way, but with a freshness that puts it apart from the other fougère offerings out there. I don't know why YSL decided to discontinued it but probably it didn't well in sales. In 2011 they re-lauched it in a different bottle but the formula changed and it seemed somewhat flat and watered down. I think it's now discontinued again or only available in some places. I'm not exactly sure what I'm smelling with this one as the progression through the notes is definitely unique (minty tobacco?), but with a name like Prestige, it must be some form of high quality art. Performance for both fragrances are very close and will last for the better part of 6-8 hours. This is best suited for men in their mid-20s and up. If you’re a younger guy and want something different, you could still pull it off. It can be worn casually, at the office, or for an evening out. It has a certain level of sexiness, but isn’t a club banger, by any means.

Pasha is a great performer and sits beautifully in the colder months of the years. Oakmoss and mint, give it a dry freshness, and then the caraway for some added spice. The scent warms up, while retaining its green outdoorsy depth, and the coolness of the mint. This, dear reader, I like to refer as my ‘scent snobbery’ phase and it’s one many of us go through. You see, when the door to the rabbit hole of perfume is opened, one is overwhelmed by an overflowing sweet shop of scent, and it’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement of wearing things that the hoi polloi haven’t even heard of.Maturity, sovereignty, male warmth and irrepressible casualness. What Yves Saint Laurent has created is a glittering prism of masculinity. Brightly cool and yet so infinitely deep-warm. A rough shell and a soft core. Not a simple perfume. Jazz is a challenge for every man. But that's the way men are. Not always easy and easy to see through. And we gladly accept challenges! Or? This winter has been decidedly cruel for the world of perfume. After the sad news of the death of perfumer and creator Vero Kern on December 18, 2018, we now heard of the passing of Jean-François Latty. Born in Grasse, Jean-François Latty had his professional training at Ecole Roure, and worked first in the Parisian and then the American subsidiaries of this composing company (Roure was joined with Givaudan to Givaudan-Roure in 1991). He joined IFF in 1970, where he composed with colleague Raymond Chaillan the famous perfume Givenchy III. He is a elegant and mature gentleman, wears a shirt with a collar and an actual pair of shoes, hold a chair for a lady, silent to helpless critters, don't talk like a thug. The vintage Jazx is a ultra green, herbal, woody, spicy, classy and extremely masculine scent. An honest, good aromatic fougere. Very much an 80's/90's powerhouse, but still revelant today. For those of you who love to idolize stars like Sean Connery, James Dean or Elvis; Jazz could be any of these people. This really sets you apart from the boys. Refreshing and bright on the opening, classy in the mids, and a dry down to die for. A real head-turner. The first session at the Congress lasted a beaten eight hours. She was exhausted and just wanted to go to the hotel and take a bath and relax. Yves stood by the car and waited for her. He opened the car door and she boarded. The car radio played jazz music. But not the fast and nervous variant. No, it was that soft, warm, very soulful jazz. He started the limousine and asked: Should I turn off the music or raise the cutting disc,...Madame? She just answers, "No, no... leave everything as it is! But everything was not as it is! Yves smelled different somehow. Although still somehow herby-fresh and it was still his eau de toilette, but it had become much, much deeper and warmer around him. It seemed as if he had aged by several years in the past time. But in a positive sense. A smoky-herb mineral oak moss filled the car and a delicate tobacco scent lay in the air and mixed with the smell of the leather. Or was it in his perfume, too? A spicy-warm and very masculine aura now emanated from him. At that moment she felt incredibly well taken care of in the car and in his presence. The casualness and sovereignty that Yves radiated from this moment was very impressive and protective. She had been very wrong about his scent!

Seasonally, it works in any season but the height of summer. I would go with either autumn or spring, as it fits in well with the more moderate temperatures, versus either extreme. I approached Prestige with some trepidation, I'm not a fan of 90's fresh fougeres, particularly ozonic,aquatic, fruity "fresh" ones such as Live Jazz for example and I passed over quite a few opportunities to have it join the collection because of that. Thankfully no aqua here and I really enjoyed a test run of Prestige. What we have here is a fougere that was way ahead of its time as it is not at all dissimilar in feel to the kind that's been put out for a number of years by niche houses such as L'Art de la Guerre or Fou d'Absinthe, pretty successful attempts to modernize the ol' fougere with different uncommon top notes and moss replacement. But what makes this a real winner for me is that the playful notes are grounded in now banned true naturals in the base something that has always been a let down for me in the two previously mentioned scents for example.

Lavender is quite present here, along with drier and woodsy notes, when the initial spice fades. Tobacco, oakmoss, and a hint of leather. Once it gets to the floral heart, they are very similar, with artemisia, lavender, and geranium being big players in both.
