For now, in my trial, that was not possible yet. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t link them together. The AiMesh setup process would just fail every single time. And I tried many times. Some Wi-Fi 6E devices may also be limited to 1201Mbps as is the case with an ASUS TUF gaming motherboard I was able to test the network with. To be fair, this is plenty of speed for just about anything, but worth keeping in mind if you need multi-gig speeds, or just want the best. Technically, we’re supposed to be able to use the XT12 and ET12 hardware together in a single mesh system, per the way AiMesh works. And eventually, that likely will be the case. The message I got when adding the ZenWiFi Pro XT12 to my GT-AXE16000 Wi-Fi 6E (or the ZenWiFi Pro ET12). While this might change, it’s not a good idea to mix Wi-Fi standards in a mesh system, anyway.

Lastly, I upgraded from a single AMPLIFI alien, to the ET12 pro. I have a 1.2gb plan and was really hoping to see speeds stretch above 600-800mbps on Wi-Fi with these units, but performance has been about the same around 450-600, upload speed actually a little lower than the alien. I have a 2.5gb modem, 2.5/10gb switch. Figured going above on all my equipment would let me get the most out of my plan. Am I being unrealistic with expectations or was the alien just that solid? Reply I should have read the specs in complete detail ... but who makes a high end router without USB connectivity?? Connect a computer to the router, either via a network cable to one of its LAN ports, or the default open Wi-Fi network, generally named “Asus xx”. Had the arris s33 throughout all this where my networking box is along With said routers as I didn’t have a switch and had to use the extra lans to supply wired internet throughout home. Moving on to wireless, you get three bands with a combined speed of AXE11000. That breaks down to 4804Mbps at 6GHz, 4804Mbps at 5GHz, and 1148Mbps at 2.4GHz with 160MHz support on the faster bands. It’s worth keeping in mind that the fastest wireless device you’ll likely ever connect to this router will run at 2402Mbps in a 2x2 configuration.

If not, bump the issue up to Engineering/Development so that someone actually pays attention to it? The rest is self-explanatory. The first time you get to the web interface, you’ll run into a wizard that walks you through a few steps. Supported Instant Guard 2.0 which helps easily invite family or friends to join the VPN connection. Wi-Fi 6E will be transformative in time as more devices come to rely on faster Wi-Fi, since 5GHz doesn’t have any more room to expand with additional channels beyond what it already has. As it stands, 6GHz will not replace the other bands and will be effective for indoor areas no more than one or two walls away from the router. You shouldn’t have to choose between fast WiFi and eye-catching aesthetics. With their sophisticated design, the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 and XT12 will complement the style of your home. Their professional finish, parallel lines, and vertical orientation calls to mind the practical elegance of modern skyscrapers. Transparent material on the top gives an inside look at the omnidirectional antennas beneath. These routers don’t hide what they are. Their unique design uses the right balance of engineering and elegance to announce that these are no ordinary mesh WiFi routers.

Today’s highest-performing wireless networks need to serve more and more devices with more bandwidth than ever before. ZenWiFi Pro mesh wireless routers offer the most MU-MIMO capacity of any ASUS mesh system for the most demanding environments. The ZenWiFi Pro ET12 harnesses WiFi 6E to offer cutting-edge connectivity to compatible client devices, while the ZenWiFi Pro XT12 delivers a premium WiFi 6 experience. As a standalone router, its default 2.5Gbps WAN always works as the WAN port, there’s no way to change this. The issue is that as soon as I set the main router up in AiMesh/AP mode, it loses its web interface and is unreachable by either wireless (wireless Internet connectivity works) or wired clients, or the Asus Device Discovery Tool when connected to the main ET12 Pro. Internet access from wireless and wired works fine, so it’s working as a single bridge, but it’s completely unmanageable at that point. The ZenWiFi Pro XT12 is a traditional Tri-band with an additional 5GHz band (the 5GHz-2). So it has 2.4GHz and two 5GHz bands (5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2).RJ45 for 2.5G BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for 2.5G BaseT for LAN x 1, RJ45 for Gigabits BaseT for LAN x 2 ZenWiFi Pro XT12 vs ZenWiFi Pro ET12: You must turn them on and look at the front lights to know which is which. Overall, I think this router looks and feels like a premium device, and one-ups the design of something like an eero Pro 6E and Orbi RBKE963. It may even pass the AmpliFi Alien, depending on how you feel about underglow lighting. Upgrading to a bit of kit like this is about more than just raw speed though. With 10 antennas in each box, you should be well covered in terms of removing dead zones and supporting dozens of devices. So if your current router or mesh network system is showing the strain from having to keep a long list of hardware online at all times, then that might be another reason to upgrade.
