The length: For what went on, this book was much longer than it needed to be. There were some very drug out scenes in the middle. In a perfect world, instructors would consider the quality and relevance of the content and the needs of their student population.

She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.Moving right along we have insta love up next. Never mind that Alex voices her resistance, no doubt the lady doth protest too much.

Fall semester is right around the corner, and if you’re going to be taking an organic chemistry class this year, you want to be as prepared as possible. Apart from getting one … [Read More...] 100 Fun Chemistry Facts (With Awesome Explanations!) Your second choice is Barbara Goldsmith’s Obsessive Genius: The Inner World of Marie Curie. One reviewer wrote that one of the book’s strengths is its suppression of anger. Do you agree? What are some of its other strengths? Let's face it, organic chemistry can seem difficult to learn. Especially from a beginner's point of view. For exactly that reason we have put together the definitive guide for … [Read More...] Chemistry Experiments at Home: Setting Up a Home Lab The tales are gritty, and Blum doesn’t stint on the gory details. The stories of cyanide poisoning are not for the weak-stomached or faint of heart. My favorite vignettes are where the chemistry doesn’t convict the obvious suspect. Frank Travia, accused in late 1926 of killing his girlfriend, and then dismembering her body to dispose of it, insisted that he’d woken up to find her dead on the floor. The case went to trial, but Norris and Gettler were able to show that the real culprit was carbon monoxide from Travia’s stove. As Blum so vividly puts it, “Carbon monoxide is a kind of chemical thug. It suffocates its victims by simply muscling oxygen out of the way.”Inorganic chemistry is the branch of chemistry that studies the properties, structure and reactivity of inorganic compounds. This field of chemistry encompasses all chemical compounds except those with carbon-hydrogen bonds, which are studied by organic chemistry. It is truly an excellent textbook for preparatory or introductory chemistry courses, but not in-depth enough for two semesters of gen chem. It provides plenty of examples of real-life applications of chemistry, with a focus on health care and environmental science. Introductory Chemistry Essentials Not everybody has access to a professional chemistry lab, so setting up a home chemistry lab is your best bet if you want to do chemistry experiments at home. Chemistry is … [Read More...] Can We See Real Atoms and Molecules? Electron Microscopy at a Glance

For many people, high school is their first formal exposure to the world of chemistry. Sadly, it isn’t always the most positive experience, and many students end up feeling … [Read More...] The Best General Chemistry Textbook (2023 Updated Guide) I had a real problem with connecting to the main characters and I think that's what kept throwing me out of this book. The aim of this discipline is to eliminate the use of toxins that are detrimental to both the health and beauty of individuals. Therefore, a growing trend in recent years is to opt for natural compounds instead of synthetic elements, eliminating health risks and the testing of products on animals.I thought this book was awesome! I was worried at first because I'm weird about mysteries/thrillers, sometimes I love them and sometimes not so much. But I was pleasantly surprised that SM wrote such a great thriller. The Introductory Chemistry Essentials (Mastering Chemistry) is on its 6th edition and has been encouraging chemistry students’ interest by showing how chemistry manifests in their daily lives. Disclaimer: This article is purely informative, and it does not contain information about how to actually carry out experimental procedures for the synthesis of LSD or any … [Read More...]

I found THE CHEMIST to have an interesting plot line which was executed in incredible detail and the main characters were well developed. However, if you already have your professor’s required textbook but aren’t happy with it, and you don’t have a ton of cash to spend on an additional book this semester, Chang & Goldsby’s General Chemistry: The Essential Concepts would be a perfect supplement without weighing you down with drawn-out explanations or extraneous information. I just wished they could have taken all of the dogs and that's all I'm going to say on that because you need to read the book! The book has something deeper to say about the line between science and pseudoscience that we would all do well to heed in this era of “fake news””Physical chemistry was born from the interest in studying the different electrical reaction systems that are manifested in chemical compounds, from this different techniques were developed to use the chemical compounds studied in laboratories for the design of fuels, in many cases fossil fuels. My expectations were really high and I was disappointed. How could the same person write the Twilight saga and this book? If there is one technique or experiment that every chemist, or student learning chemistry should know, it is Thin Layer Chromatography (or TLC for short). If you want to … [Read More...] The BEST Chemistry Set for Kids (and Adults!) in 2023 The Introductory Chemistry Essentials (Mastering Chemistry) is a chemistry textbook ideal for one-semester courses in Preparatory Chemistry. It prepares high school students for success by building 21st-century problem-solving skills one could easily develop.
