This review of Do Not Open is based on the PS5 version, with a code provided by the game’s publisher. It’s available on PS5 and PC. There’s a new wave of horror games that are truly embracing the escape room format, however, and the latest of them is Do Not Open. Trapping you inside a house, your house, it’s instantly clear that something isn’t quite right. And the only way to escape the nightmare you’ve been thrown into is to visit a sequence of rooms, solving the puzzles found in each so that you can escape. And did we mention there’s a giant paranormal entity pursuing you? Well, yeah, that.

I might have given it a go if not for the stealth though. That’s just tedious to me in any game unfortunately.

Summary Under immense pressure in a terrifying and oppressive environment, Michael J. Goreng, an infamous zoologist and epidemiologist is trapped within a warped version of his own house. I’m normally heavily swayed from procedurally generated stuff (it completely ruins the memorability and weight of things for me personally) but this sounds like a genre and concept that it could work great for. There’s a lot of survival horror on the horizon for PS5, but if you’re a fan of the genre, you’ve probably got time for one more. Do Not Open, a self-proclaimed Escape Room-style experience, will prise the PS5 ajar when it launches on 15th November, 2022. It’ll be followed by a “definitive VR version” for PSVR2 next year. There’ll also be a PS4 release, although this will no longer support the original PSVR headset, as had been previously announced. Old School Survival Horror: Designed around the true survival horror values of vulnerability and fear –with mechanics such as permadeath and an emphasis on hiding instead of fighting. Welcome to the trophy guide for Do Not Open. This can also be considered a walkthrough and may be used for PlayStation 4, 5, Xbox One, Series X and Steam. Achievements for Steam and Xbox are in almost all cases the same as the PlayStation 4/5 Trophies. A roadmap is provided in the stages below.

Kind of like playing one of those off the shelf trivia games I guess except it’s a haunted house with puzzles. One part survival horror, one part escape room, Do Not Open by Nox Noctis has an exciting premise that caught my attention from the get-go. Unfortunately, when I first booted it up, I found myself unable to leave the very first room. I had solved the puzzle and triggered the in-game dialogue, but the door I was supposed to open just wouldn’t cooperate, no matter how many times I restarted and reinstalled the game. Behind each door is a different section of the manor, and once you step inside a room, you can’t leave until you complete it or die and have to start again from the entranceway. As I’ve already mentioned, Do Not Open is a survival horror with escape room mechanics where the aim of the game is to escape Judith’s manor. After escaping the first room, which acts as a mini-tutorial, the player will find themselves in the entranceway of the manor with a number of doors to go through.

Inspired by true events, award winning Do Not Open is a tragic story about one man’s battle to retain sanity and fight to shut out the voices in his head. A tragic story inspired by real events, about a man’s fight to keep all reason and turn off the voices in his head. Schizophrenia or reality? Freed from the basement of the house after solving the first puzzle, you’re then free to enter numerous doors, though you’ll end up in the next puzzle room regardless – your door choice doesn’t really matter. While much of Do Not Open is randomised, the puzzles themselves remain fixed in each featured room. In the dance room, for example, you’ll be trying to work out which colour is associated with each symbol so you can play the correct notes on a piano, but each time you enter they’ll be randomised to keep you on your toes.
