The signs of a good girl usually manifest in things such as fear of speaking out, fear of disappointing others, fear of rejection , the need always to excel, avoidance of any conflict or confrontation, and inability to refuse others. Darlynne: I’m glad I’m not alone re my feelings about the premise but there is a lot to like about the book regardless. What is a good girl exactly? Being a good girl is self-explanatory, but it is when it becomes a syndrome that it becomes a problem. Fortunately, it is possible to overcome the good girl syndrome. How? Watch this video to know more.

A New York Times , USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a writer, and actively began pursuing that dream when she was a teenager. One of the things that makes Elle Kennedy’s NA romances so much fun is the cast of characters she gives each book/series. I loved the new people she introduced us to in this book. Cooper has a twin, Evan, who I want a book for. I also loved all of Cooper’s friends (minus Heidi, but I got her in the end). Mac had a fun roommate, but her parents and Preston were awful. I loved to hate Preston. All of these characters have me wanting more books set in Avalon Bay! Cooper grew up in Avalon Bay and has always had issues with the college kids because of the way they treated the townies. Mac moves to town to attend college to please her parents and boyfriend. After a chance encounter, Cooper and Mac start spending time together and eventually start dating. What could go wrong? Other than Mac overhearing a conversation about her and learning more about the origins of her relationship with Cooper?

Ultimately, what saved the book for me and made it an overall win was that writing style I like so much and the characters which went a long way to overcoming the barrier I had about the revenge storyline. For readers who don’t have that same barrier, I think the book will work much better. I enjoyed the snap and sizzle of the chemistry between Mac and Cooper. I liked that the group of friends were not perfect and that one in particular was presented with more nuance than initially appeared would be the case. The title says it all! Kennedy’s ninth Out of Uniform installment (after Getting Hotter), which works perfectly well as a stand-alone story, is an erotically charged tale of an unconventional Continue reading » The ‘good girl syndrome’ is the manifestation of traits valued and praised among little girls to the extent that deviating from those traits makes them feel guilty and fearful of being judged. For me, the negative part is that the plots and tropes can get a little repetitive (to be fair, I feel that way sometimes about thrillers and mysteries too.)

Right. Nothing spends faster than somebody else’s money. Rich kids spitting bills in a game of one-upmanship, all courtesy of Daddy’s credit card. I really enjoyed the interactions between Cooper and his friends. His twin brother was a bit of a hoot (like the comic relief so to speak). Good Girl Complex had an Outer Banks setting and rich girl/poor boy vibe. It wasn’t my favorite Elle Kennedy book, but I’m a bit more excited by some of the supporting characters (Cooper’s brother and Mac’s roommate) and will keep reading in the series to see what’s in store for them. I turn slowly, waiting for the punch line. Traditionally, that question is followed by one of two options: Good Girl Complex had me intrigued the moment I first learned about it. Why? Because I have always been a people pleaser. And I was curious how this would work in a romance novel, and I think this worked as well as I thought. She pouts. Playfully at first, then more flippant when she realizes I’m not interested in hooking up tonight. We might’ve indulged in a string of hookups earlier this summer, but making that a regular thing with one of my best friends starts to resemble a relationship, and that’s not where I’m trying to go. I keep hoping she’ll realize that and stop asking. The main plot trope involved in Good Girl Complex (a secret bet) isn’t my favorite, as it always involves the relationship being based on a huge lie. I leave Cooper's room, heart pounding. Candles. I should probably find some candles in case the power goes out. Because nothing sounds less appealing to me than sitting in the dark listening to the shrieks of a century-old dead child. Mac is different though - she has ambition and wants to break free from the role her parents keep trying to cast her in. She's always done whatever is asked of her, but she's itching for change. In typical Elle Kennedy fashion this book is steamy, the connections are electric, and the characters are FIRE! The banter between Cooper and Mac was funny and authentic - I laughed and cried and fell in love with their chemistry. I loved them together!

I did enjoy Good Girl Complex but it was not my favourite of your books, mainly because I struggled with the premise. I haven’t read this yet but I have a copy waiting for me. I’m in the mood for something messy and this kinda sounds it with the cheating. I’m glad the cheating didn’t bother you and that you wound up enjoying it! The problem is it won’t come easy, which is understandable since the roots of this complex are something that women have internalized from a young age. Undoing something that has had years to cement itself inside your consciousness is always easier said than done.If you feel disconnected or frustrated about the state of your marriage but want to avoid separation and/or divorce, the marriage.com course meant for married couples is an excellent resource to help you overcome the most challenging aspects of being married.
