About this deal

Fragile Speedster: At least in the beginning, Utena was shown to be a rather weak fighter as Baiser, having no direct combat abilities of her own if her monsters were bypassed and sustaining heavy damage from even glancing blows. She was however the fastest magical girl around by a massive margin, handily outmaneuvering Sulfur’s Lightning Bruiser second form and outflying the blast of a grenade that Leopolt put in her hands. Then she got her own second form. Token Wholesome: As should be expected from a prepubescent girl. On top of not showing a hint of skin in costume, Alice only ever suffers superficial Clothing Damage on her hems and is at worst waved around like a sparkler by the rampant Naughty Tentacles Baiser conjures. Even when she magically turns herself into a grown woman to play “adult”, the focus of the scenes is almost entirely on the older girls she’s teasing. Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World: As is typical of the genre, Tres Magia have completely mundane civilian lives as quiet middle-schoolers, broken up by sudden calls to blast away rampaging monsters and villainesses. What's slightly unusual out of them is that, when monster fights are in a slump, they also have an actively cultivated merchandising brand at their mascot's behest, ostensibly for public outreach and goodwill. Mundane Utility: Nero Alice's dollhouse is not only good for playing People Puppets, she can also use it to play doctor, with very real healing as a result. She used it to heal Utena when she caught a cold as a result of working all-night to restore one of Alice's dolls. Fangs Are Evil: When transforming into "Berserk Mode" she develops a mouth full of too-big pointy teeth.

Komatsu, Mikikazu (October 9, 2023). "Voice-Actor Unit NACHERRY to Sing Gushing over Magical Girls Anime Opening Theme Song". Crunchyroll . Retrieved October 27, 2023. Just Toying with Them: Sulfur and Magenta can both tell that Baiser does not take her fights against Tres Magia seriously and is using them for gratification. This is especially the case after she beats Enorme and starts coming into her growing power, subjugating the good magical girls with ease until she has her fill and lets them go. Magic Wand: Swishing her riding crop is how she activates all her magic, and it’s sturdy enough to look like a baton from a distance. She's the only magical girl to utilize her weapon as one for its intended purpose, even Tres Magia who do have magic wands but only use it as close-ranged weapons. Swiss Army Super Power: On paper, the power to control toys doesn't seem all that impressive or versatile but oh boy, would you be surprised. She can: Mind Control: Alice is able to suppress the memories of people trapped inside her magic dollhouses and beguile them into playing the roles she wants. This mental influence does not linger after her power shuts off, and can be resisted.Bad Influencer: Downplayed; by her own account, Kiwi was a social media junkie so desperate for ever more validation from the Internet that she wanted to kill Tres Magia for supposedly drawing attention away from her. That being said, she has very few mannerisms of an attention-hungry Phoneaholic Teenager, at most snapping the occasional selfie of her dragging Utena on a date. Presumably, Baiser is all the attention she craves anymore. On the other hand, she retains a high degree of savvy in managing attention online, a skill she eventually imparts on Matama. Villain Protagonist: Played With. Utena was forced to become a villain and is by all intents a good girl at heart. However, since the story is narrated mostly from her point of view, the villainous team is given more focus than the heroines. Perpetual Smiler: His face is frozen into a bland little smirk regardless of what he actually emotes. Concurrent with that, Azul has steadily become more useless in a fight as enjoyment of being Bound and Gagged has increased, much to her embarrassment.

Press-Ganged: Utena's practically been impressed to fight for evil, under pain of having various videos of her Transformation Sequence, and/or her BDSM-filled fights with Tres Magia leaked to Venalita's social media, or him leaving her porn mags for her family to find.

Living Weapon: Baiser’s signature spell is to turn common objects into these from scissor-butterflies to power cable-snakes to Leopolt’s grenades turned into beetles. Clothing Damage: It’d be easier to count the number of fights that don’t have someone at some point get every scrap of clothing shredded off of their body. The fact that re-transforming after resting from a fight fully restores a costume goes from an in-universe convenience to an element that the series probably couldn't function without. Commonality Connection: In chapter 42, Utena and Kiwi take her toy-shopping as they promised and Utena waxes nostalgic about playing house with a collection of tiny bunny figurines. Korisu is surprised to hear that Utena used to play in the same way with the same dolls as she likes, before flashing the older girl a brilliant smile and a thumbs up.

Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete (Gushing over Magical Girls

The initial trio is a special case since Alice and Leopolt have way bigger stars (It's usually coin-size, implying theirs would be more powerful than those with the same number of stars) while Utena has hers in more than one part of her body note Eyes, cheeks and horns and can gain more if she needs to. Mr. Exposition: Is always ready to jump in with an explanation for how specific magic works and the way Enormeeta was originally run. Creepy Loner Girl: Utena has most of the aesthetics (dark, disheveled and gloomy) and started out fairly isolated, but amusingly she only became a full-on creep after she was forced to interact with others.Human Resources: Reveals in chapter 35 that his intent for Baiser and the rest of the magical girls was for them to grow as strong as they could before fighting each other to near-death so he could then somehow extract their magic for his own purposes. Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Averted, hard. After the opening few chapters of Baiser warming up to the prospect of fighting, there almost isn’t a single exchange of blows that doesn’t end with at least one girl getting covered in burns, bruises, and bleeding scrapes. Safe, Sane, and Consensual: Averted, but mostly cause of that last part. Utena's sexual assaults are definitely not consensual, but it is shown a couple times that she keeps things for the most part safe. For example when pouring melted wax on Sulfer's bare chest, Utena mentions she uses a special wax that melts at lower temperatures, which means that chances of actual burns, or even pain, are low. Not So Above It All: Korisu is usually completely po-faced and subdued in her actions, but in chapter 40 when Haruka is getting dogpiled by ghosts she sprints up to her and starts yanking on her twintails with a dopey open smile.

MangaDex

Meaningful Name: Her magical name derives from her full civilian name which roughly translates to "Little (A)'lice note Squirrel in the woods". Power Incontinence: Getting overly turned on while in civilian mode causes at least Venalita’s girls to involuntarily transform into their magical girl costumes. Ascended Fan Girl: Deconstructed, Utena has dreamed her whole life of being a Magical Girl so she happily accepted a proposal from the first mascot character who showed up. It's not until it's too late that she realizes she is now the enemy of the magical girls she had so loved. Named Weapon: Her crop is the only magical girl weapon to have a received or revealed name, Full Star Dominazione. Defeat Means Friendship: She alongside Loco Musica join Enormeeta once again after they lost because the other option of retreating and facing Lord Enorme is so much worse.

reason to read Manga online is the huge amount of material that is available. When you go to a comic store or Exotic Eye Designs: Though hard to see because of her habitual squint, her irises are ringed like Korisu's. We Can Rule Together: Lord Enorme asks Baiser and co. to join her in world domination but Baiser doesn't have any interest in that kinda thing and turns her down. Jerk With A Heart Of Jerk: Of course his moments of care are shown to be a complete charade when he ends up driving Baiser to turn into a monster so he can harvest her magic and that of the other girls she's partially consumed.
