As we know, Polish food has admirers all over the world. Polish cuisine has evolved throughout the centuries and shares many influences from neighboring countries. I am going to attempt to convert some of these recipes to gluten free and adapt them to ingredients in my kitchen while still working to maintain their overall aesthetics. I'll update this review with my results when and if I get a chance to do so. I can't wait to try his other recipes for myself and if there are any leftovers, for my loved ones. This is definitely a cookbook to have on hand at all times. Of course, if you’re looking for only mazurkas, babkas, and other Christmas dishes, Peter and Laura have covered those in their other book on Polish Classic Desserts!

Overall a perfect cookbook for anyone who wants to celebrate their Polish heritage or anyone just interested in cooking some new recipes.Alina Kowalska has taken the time to put together over 200 authentic Polish recipes in her cookbook. Readers love the natural tastes from haluski and kluski to bigos and more. While I am unable to make most of the recipes in this cookbook (I cook gluten free with limited dairy, and this book is heavy on wheat and often specialty dairy for nearly every recipe), I can't help but give it 5 stars because of all that it has going for it. Korkosz is a Saveur award winning Polish chef who clearly loves this food and passes on traditional Polish recipes in ways that make them appealing and accessible, with gorgeous color photos of every dish. He accompanies them all with stories of how his grandmother or others prepared the dish, how it would be traditionally eaten, and other details that really leave the reader feeling as if they've been taught by a passionate Polish friend who's taken them under his wing, rather than just reading a dry cookbook. Sophie Hodorowicz Knab is a noted lecturer, an engaging writer, and author whose books include “ Polish Customs, Traditions and Folklore”; “ Polish Herbs, Flowers and Folk Medicine,” “Polish Wedding Customs and Traditions,”and other titles all published by Hippocrene Books. She is a contributor to the American Polish Journal and resides in Grand Canal, New York.

Rose Petal Jam: Recipes and Stories from a Summer in Poland”is an excellent project by talented wife and husband authors Beata Zatorska and Simon Target. Beata learned to cook from her grandmother, a professional chef. Simon is a photographer and filmmaker with several award-winning television documentaries and cooking shows. He accompanied Zatorska and photographed the book’s scenery, dishes, and produce. The book is the winner of the Best in the World Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2012 and has also released a second cookbook: “ Sugared Orange: Recipes and Stories from a Winter in Poland.”

All of the recipes are learned from her Babcia Stasia and display her Polish roots. If you want to experience Christmas in Poland, get this book! 9.Polish Cookbook My next Polish cookbook was Nela’s Cookbook by Nela Rubenstein, the wife of pianist Arthur Rubinstein. I love this book and reading it makes me love Nela. There are wonderful head notes with every recipe, giving the reader a true feel for this woman and the joy she took in preparing food for those she cared about. New copies are getting pricey, so I suggest selecting a used copy of this book which I highly recommend. The recipes are Polish, Lithiuanian, and American.

Hi, you should add Renata Behan’s “Wild Honey and Rye”– a modern take on traditional Polish recipes. She is a friend of mine and it was published in UK last year and in the USA earlier this year. It not only has great recipes but you get the whole feel of Renata’s emigrant experience growing up as the daughter of an ex-Polish soldier.First published in 1948, this recipe book has now reached it’s 25th edition. The author Marie Sokolowski makes Polish cooking accessible to those who would otherwise find it a bit difficult.
