About this deal

It’s a shame Hot Wheels never expanded on this idea with different mat overlays, higher walls, or even new vehicle releases. But for what it is, the Rivals RC Set provided hours of entertainment. Pros: Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique? Some import bodies are special variants of another Battle-Car, and therefore have the same hitboxes, physics, and turning radii as their original counterparts. These include the Octane ZSR, the Breakout Type-S, and the Road Hog XL. So each Ramp Section is 5.5 meters wide! Additionally, we know that each Ramp Section is 3.66 Merc-lengths wide. As with all cosmetics, they are available in seven rarities and can be bought in the Item Shop, traded in, found in Blueprints, or traded with other players.

This season nine showcase has a sleek, aerodynamic build, and is the popular hitbox choice among many — specifically called Breakout. With its length and flat, low top, the car can be both an offensive and defensive force if used the right way. The Emperor is also quite good at scooping up the ball and taking charge, making it a good leverage car. It can be a presence on defense for those who favor flipping frequently, too. As a boxier alternative to Octane with a touch of Merc and Dominus, this has lately become one of the most popular cars for pros and casual players alike. It makes sense, given its solid build and its versatile nature. For many, the Fennec has become the best car; a go-to on par with Dominus and Octane with its solid air mechanics and powerful shooting.

Now, we need to travel in as straight a line as possible across the field. Let's use the 100% corner boost canisters to do this, like so. Just pretend it's a post-goal victory lap to rouse the balloons in the crowd (or are they eggs? Let's not get into that, this time). Note that the car hits supersonic about halfway between 4:38 and 4:37. This is important, because we need to know that the car has reached max speed for our measurements in a bit. Through the power of Photoshop (a.k.a., MS Paint), we can see that the number of Mercs that fit within the width of one Ramp Section is a little over 3.5. Based on my pixel count it's actually 3 and 45/68 Mercs, or 3.66 Mercs/Section. If you’ve never heard of a hitbox before, that’s fine. Hitboxes are invisible lines that determine the edges of a model – in this case, the car. These lines form, you guessed it, a box, and if another asset (for instance, a ball) hits this box, the game will register this as a collision and the ball will fly off in the appropriate direction.

Not knowing which car you’ll pull is the real fun of the Battle-Car series, especially since every car looks like its on-screen counterpart. There’s not much to these Battle-Cars, but I appreciate Jazwares focusing on an inconsequential part of the game and building a whole series of toys around it. The big question ( /s ) for quite a while now has been whether the cars are RC cars or life-sized cars with human drivers. Well, I finally got bored enough to do the approximate math to determine the answer. The next-best option is to Trade In your items as detailed in the Body section, and your last option to get some new tires is to trade with other players. Pester your friends or send a message to someone you played against to see if they want to trade. Soon you’ll be feeling like Bobby Firmino waking up on Christmas morning to a brand new pair of boots under the tree. See those markers on the side of the field, on the ramps? They look like this. Let's go ahead and call those "Ramp Sections." Note that at the bottom, there are four sections of grating that are visibly separated by a dark line. Let's call those four sections "Grating Divisions."

Note: we are making the assumption that in the middle of the field, the ramp sections actually line up perfectly down the middle of the field, which looks pretty accurate. On August 3, 2017, Psyonix introduced painted variants of some Common bodies, which could be obtained via the trade-in system. [1] These variants are classified as Import rarity. From the 4:37 frame we see that the front of the Merc is crossing about 1/3 of the way into the 2nd Grating Division on Ramp Section 4. This means our ending point is 4 + 1/4 + (1/4 x 1/3) = 4 + 1/4 + 1/12 = 4.33 RS. According to Suter, you’ll need to use the 9115M RC car as the base for the Octane shell. What’s really great about this user-made creation is that you can customize the color as much as you want. From the 4:38 frame, we see that the line intersects about 3/5 of the first Grating Division on the first Ramp Section. If we label the left-most side of this Ramp Section "0" then we see that our starting point is 0+3/5 x 1/4 Ramp Sections = 3/20 RS or 0.15 RS.
