However, it wasn’t to last. In a few decades, hurricanes, soil erosion, and infestations brought an end to the industry. After the plantation days, the small villages of Kew, Whitby, Bottle Creek, and Bambarra, supported by small-scale fishing and agriculture, replaced the organized cotton and sisal fields. Overgrown and forgotten plantation ruins can still be found in the wilds across the islands.

Stay in style on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Our rooms were designed with love and attention as a perfect base to enjoy Holy Island. Sir John Hawkins and Sir Francis Drake were privateers and the first English traders in enslaved people. Queen Elizabeth I's enemy was Spain, and Hawkins and Drake sailed to raid Spanish ships and colonies in the Americas on her behalf. Clearly, Mount Sinai was a territory somewhere remote to mainland Midian—again, fitting with the Sinai Peninsula, and again, fitting with a western, Gulf of Suez sea crossing to get to it. In Egypt? All of our 527 bedrooms have been designed to help you make the most of your time at university. They will be ultra modern, and include lots of little luxuries like high-tech kitchens and beautiful bathrooms. Or did it take a few days into the Israelite departure for the various groups of Israelites to catch up? This would fit well with a Gulf of Suez crossing, preempted by several encampments (such as apparently for the Sabbath, at Succoth) along the way. The Patterns of Evidence documentaries are well-produced, thought-provoking films examining the historical evidence for some of the greatest stories in the Bible—namely, the slavery of the Israelites, the existence of Moses, the Exodus, and the parting of the Red Sea. Patterns of Evidence: Exodus did a fantastic job in presenting the evidence for a historical Exodus that fits squarely with biblical chronology—during the 15th century b.c.e. The documentaries bring together different minds offering different views and opinions on the historicity, chronology, and location of various events. I discovered the dr Ruth Galloway books as I was collecting all books by Rosa de Domenica, ( same author, different name) By law, pedestrians or vehicles must be able to use a traffic route without causing danger to the health or safety of people working near it.

Ruth Galloway, a forensic archaeologist and introverted cat-lover, discovers bones of a human child in Norfolk, a quiet town. Detective Nelson seeks her help in solving the case, which leads to unraveling a mystery surrounding the disappearance of another girl. This book series, with its strong cast, immersive world-building, compelling characters, and thrilling stories, is a must-read. There is also the standard division of Egypt into “two lands” (also revealed in the Hebrew name for this country, Mizraim)—Upper Egypt in the south, and Lower Egypt in the north. Two lands of Egypt, not some form of a “third” division, made up by the entirely separate Sinai Peninsula. It aims to break the vicious cycle of homelessness and workless-ness, offering a skills and training culture. Interestingly, an initial number presented in support of the Nuweiba crossing theory by Ron Wyatt, Jonathan Gray and others, was that the land bridge reached a maximum depth of “only” 200-300 meters (700-1,000 feet; of course, still a colossal depth). This claim was made in citing a chart from the British Admiralty (the official authority for charting the Red Sea), and came to the attention of the British Hydrography Office of the Department of Defense. They issued a statement in 1995 correcting the claim, stating that “[t]here is no evidence in the Hydrographic Office of a ‘bridge’ crossing the Gulf of Aqaba.” Furthermore, they stated that the chart was actually a U.S. one that had been misconstrued, and that “[d]epths along the suggested route of the bridge reach a maximum of 850m (2800 feet) and not the stated 300m (1000ft).The story is fast-paced and there is always lots going on in the book. Ruth has to deal with some homeless people (calledrough sleepers in the UK), and the way the author depicted these poor people entices lots of sympathy for them. These are all real folks who once had a real past, a real job, real talents, hobbies, and families. As the garden islands in the country, North Caicos and Middle Caicos were home to quite a few cotton and sisal plantations in previous centuries. Two such historical attractions are open for tourism. The author gets her inspiration for her books from her husband, who gave up banking in the city to retrain as an archaeologist and enjoys digging up bones and discovering their history. Elly Griffiths is interested in history, archaeology, myths, and legends.

It’s only a scenic 30-minute ferry ride between Providenciales and North Caicos, making it the perfect place to visit on a day trip. North Caicos is connected to Middle Caicos via a road causeway, so you’ll be able to explore both islands. The Henge was what changed Galloway’s life forever. This discovery is where she met her partner for the next ten years, Peter. She also uncovered many secrets that led to murder. She currently lives on an isolated stretch of land called The Saltmarsh with her two cats. Elly says she doesn’t know where her alter ego and character, Ruth Galloway came from. She stated that the character just popped into her head and came to life one day. Situated right in the centre of town, Southampton Crossings is the perfect student accommodation for both University of Southampton and Southampton Solent students. Shop ’til you drop at Westquay or tantalise your taste buds at many of the popular bars, pubs and restaurants – all just a stone’s throw away from Southampton Crossings. A great choice for student living in Southampton.

The Bible also describes the Israelites “pitching” in only three different locations before the sea crossing—but it describes them pitching in eight different locations after it, on the way to Mount Sinai (Numbers 33:5-15). Which route fits better? Paul’s reference to Mount Sinai “in Arabia,” then, would only be expected to relate to the Sinai Peninsula—it by no means excludes it. And one largely overlooked part of Paul’s statement is that he symbolically refers to Mount Sinai as Hagar, Abraham’s concubine and mother of the Ishmaelites. “The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai …” (Galatians 4:24; New Living Translation). Hagar was an Egyptian (Genesis 16:1). This at face value could conceivably lend to a location closer to Egypt, yet still within Arabian territory. The Ruth Galloway series has six books altogether in it. They include The Crossing Places, The Janus Stone, The House at Sea’s End, A Room Full of Bones, A Dying Fall, and The Outcast Dead. She also writes a Christmas story with Ruth Galloway as the main character as well as a book called, Ruth Galloway Omnibus: Dodencirkel and Offersteen which is two books in one about Ruth Galloway. When not writing, she likes swimming, reading and seeing plays at the theater. Elly Griffiths Awards and NominationsAnd this Sinai Peninsula setting would fit well with the biblical account. Because it is immediately after their crossing of the Red Sea that the Israelites are set upon by marauding Amalekites (Exodus 17). The narrator talks about road safety while wee see an animation of someone crossing a road, in a car, playing by a road with a ball and wearing high visibility clothing and a helmet.
