Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy reading The Teacher and think that it handled some delicate subjects quite well, but perhaps the twists went a little too far.

Teaching WalkThrus: Five-step guides to instructional Teaching WalkThrus: Five-step guides to instructional

Does a good job of exploring how trauma affects people and how people suffering from mental illness struggle with self-doubt and how people can take advantage of that.

Every time I thought I knew where this book was heading it took a completely different turn to what I thought. The end was very twisty which I loved and that very final secret revealed right at the end blew me away. I’d have never worked that one out in a million years. First, I want to thank Danielle Stewart, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review. Elizabeth is a high school teacher with a history of severe childhood trauma. To compensate, she has created a perfect life with a beautiful home and a loving family with her husband and teenage son. She notices a student acting strangely, and she reaches out to her. She finds out the young woman is accusing her son of assaulting her at a party. With that, Elizabeth's past takes the driver's seat and dominates the storyline. Danielle Stewart's THE TEACHER is a twisty, riveting psychological thriller with a cast of unreliable narrators of a woman who befriends one of her students who needs help and gets caught up in a dangerous web of deceit, lies, secrets, and revenge that may destroy her entire family when the past and present collide.

A teacher’s time is short and precious. Time invested in reading a book is time that could be spent reading other books, planning lessons, or (heaven forbid) having a life outside of teaching. Instantly, I was drawn into this fast paced and addictive read! Once you start reading you just can’t stop! I love books like this that hook you instantly!Early childhood education is vital for future student success. At young ages, students are constantly learning and growing, ready to absorb new material each and every day. However, each child is unique and the same methods won’t work for all of them. What a situation to find yourself in, which way do you turn in something like this, do you follow your maternal instinct or do you believe your pupil? Danielle's writing style is very easy to read. It flows smoothly, never overcomplicating the dialogue or the descriptions, it just draws you in naturally. By the 1960s, schools had grown more ethnically diverse, and Gilroy’s challenge was now to consider the different cultural expectations of teaching. Still, she was a sensitive and experimental educator who cared deeply for expanding young minds through child-centred learning. “The pace, the temperature and the pulse of the classroom had to suit each child,” she wrote. “I turned to art and drama to help them towards an awareness of alternatives and to set new boundaries of their thinking.”

After the dominoes fall, the meddling teacher’s credibility starts to crumble. Her care and concern for her student becomes very inappropriate. Elizabeth already knows there are consequences to her actions since she’s done something like this before. With her marriage at risk, son in trouble, and her job at stake… she’s willing to take that chance.I really appreciate NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this and give my honest review before it is released next month. Many books are written with all ages and subjects in mind, but it’s important to have specialised resources that pinpoint unique solutions. Not all education challenges are the same, so their answers shouldn’t be either. The Teacher" by Danielle Stewart, published by Bookouture, takes readers on a rollercoaster of twists and turns. As an educator myself, I found the premise intriguing, but there were aspects that left me questioning the credibility of the story. Wow that took a turn. I’m not sure how to write this without giving too much away. Elizabeth, “The Teacher”, and her family are the source of the story. She’s lived a very hard life and that has molded her into a champion for anyone needing a little help. Both the present and what from her past shaped her slowly seeps out with chapters told mostly from Elizabeth’s in the past and the present but other characters in the present. This presentation allows for some cliffhanger chapters that aren’t resolved right away as the focus of the story would change. This kept me reading and wanting answers. However, Elizabeth will not stop until she learns more about Daisy. As things come to light, her husband wants to send her to Bayview for psychiatric help. They think she is being obsessive. However, does her husband have her best interest at heart?

Because I simply do not know. No one knows your students, subject, school, culture, challenges, constraints and opportunities like you. The author crafted an intriguing plot with twists and turns that leave you wondering if any of the main characters are truly trustworthy. The FMC experienced many heartbreaking events in her life that may be triggering for some but I thought the author did a good job writing them into the story with sensitivity. In the process, many men did not have her best interest at heart from controlling, powerful, and manipulative. She is untrusting of others, and rightly so. Explore our book list and uncover the perfect resources for your teaching needs and interests: Best books for teachers for professional development This could be a personal thing but this thriller has so many twists and turns that it breaks immersion as it is so unrealistic. The plot twists did not feel natural; rather they felt like they were crammed in so that this would become a thriller but maybe some people would see it differently and actually enjoy that.My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine) If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row. The tips are born out of years of experience, experimentation, success and (certainly in my case) failure in the classroom. I am actually pleasantly surprised by this one. I don't know what I expected with this thriller but it was so much more than it was. There truly are so many twists coming from all angles that you don't know what to believe. Nicely played Ms Stewart.
