However, the difference is relatively tiny if you add a third grinder to provide some additional perspective. Timemore C3 for espresso? Timemore products are defined by their balance of affordability and functionality. The Chestnut C2 and C3 are two Timemore grinders designed to be both powerful and portable. Their other two notable grinders – the Nano and the Chestnut Slim – market themselves as more travel-friendly versions of the C2 or C3. The Xlite, on the other hand, has a larger burr set that targets high performance. It certainly looks premium with its textured aluminum body. And the texture feels great in your hand – an important but often overlooked factor with hand grinders.

Timemore Chestnut C2 Manual Coffee Grinder - Black

The C3 is still a cheap grinder, so the company had to make a few compromises – this being the most noticeable. Also, remember that the much more expensive Comandante has some plastic internally. It took about 55 seconds to grind this dose, so it’s not a fast espresso grinder, but it’s acceptable. Look, the Timemore Chestnut C2 is hardly a bad little hand grinder, but it leaves a little to be desired in terms of grind quality compared to some of the bigger name manual grinders. The E&B burrs are supposed to be a bit more consistent than the original C2 burrs while also being able to grind for espresso.

The Timemore Chestnut C2 is an excellent all-rounder burr grinder. It is entry-level in terms of build quality and price but is competing with premium grinders when it comes to grind quality. We highly recommend it for those starting out or looking for an affordable manual coffee grinder. It is a huge step up from its competitors like the Hario Skerton Pro or the Porlex Mini.

Timemore C2 Review: Is It Really THAT Good? - Sip Coffee House Timemore C2 Review: Is It Really THAT Good? - Sip Coffee House

The body is made of dark-grey aluminum, which has a unique textured surface. I think it looks pretty good, and it’s not something I have seen other brands than Timemore use.To my eyes, the color also looks like a slightly darker (and more awesome) shade of grey compared to the C2. In all, the C2 is a great starter grinder for coffee lovers whose favorite brewing methods don’t use finer grinds. But the hype isn’t everything. Millions of people love McDonald’s coffee. Millions don’t. So how do you know the C2 is worth the hype? Timemore offers replacement Titanium burr sets which improve the overall grind quality and consistency at finer grind settings. As for grind settings, the adjustment knob is easy to turn, too. And when you’re done, this hand grinder is easy to clean and small enough to store anywhere. While conical burrs are good for grind consistency, steel burrs are good news for fans of manual coffee brewing and single-origin roasts. Grinding with the Timemore Chestnut C2 is a pleasant experience. And the noise is very low. You can grind coffee whenever you want at midnight or in the early morning without waking anyone up. Is it easy to clean?
