On the perimeter, Carl tells the Hilltop residents to gather their weapons because they need to help the others. Lydia smiles at him. This chapter is the epic beginning of the mega popular franchise of The Walking Dead that first was comic books, then expanded to a TV series and now there are even prose novels. Marco gets shot in the leg, Jesus grabs the man wielding the firearm, Eugene grabs the gun from the man. Jesus states he is a Whisperer. Eugene and Jesus take Marco the infirmary, as they leave the shooter seems stunned about what he just did. Then Mercer prepares to fight Lance and his guards, expecting the other soldiers to support him. Lance, however, snidely tells Mercer to look around. Mercer asks George for help, but not even he is willing. Lance suggests Mercer surrender.

A story featuring The Governor in his early days as the leader of Woodbury, as well as the fate of Scott Moon.In Kirkman’s letter at the end of the final compendium, he states that he didn’t want the reader to know the ending was coming. He spoke of his own experience with films, saying that he disliked the feeling towards the end, when everything is winding down. While I understand this sentiment, I believe there are tactful ways to complete a story without dragging your reader through a long and boring conclusion. The ending of this series leaves much to be desired. Walking Dead έχει τη δική του αξία. Είναι καλοσχεδιασμένο, απρόβλεπτο και με καλή ανάπτυξη χαρακτήρων. In the Hilltop, Carl marvels about how much progress has been made in rebuilding the colony, stating that it will look even better than before. Elsewhere, Maggie thanks William for all the hard work the Kingdom has done in helping to rebuild; he mentions that they will probably be doing the same for the Kingdom soon enough. He then tells Maggie that she seems to be distracted over the last few days; Maggie, thinking about where Negan is due to a map Dante brought her the previous day, says it's nothing. Carl goes over to Lydia, who thanks him again for accepting her even with how she's treated him recently. As they hug, Sophia looks at them from a distance. Beta finds Alpha's headless corpse. Some other Whisperers mention how Negan isn't around to claim his title. Beta says he would never allow him to become the alpha, but also that he himself does not intend to claim the role. He doesn't want there to be another alpha ever - they will be guided by her words. Essentially, they use her death as an excuse to kill all who oppose them. At the Hilltop, Carl awakes to find Lydia watching him. She tells him she wouldn't be there without him. Maggie and Brianna are tending to a horse. Maggie tells her that she doesn't like being kept in the dark, saying she wants word from Alexandria. They suddenly hear someone yelling to " OPEN THE GATE!". Michonne rushes in with Aaron. She yells at them to get Doctor Carson, telling them Aaron's not breathing.

At the Hilltop, Carl introduces himself to Joshua. He asks if Joshua's parents are inside with Maggie, and Joshua confirms, saying that she's making sure they're not too crazy to live at the Hilltop. Joshua reassures Carl that they never liked the Whisperers, and were simply scared. Carl is happy to hear that Joshua and his parents aren't crazy, and offers to show Joshua around. Joshua states that he likes it at the Hilltop, and wants to stay. He asks if it's safe at the community, to which Carl replies that it is most of the time. Meanwhile at the Hilltop, Eduardo is keeping watch on the perimeter wall. He is relieved by another guard, but mentions the spear has a few splinters. He goes to Earl's shed to get a replacement and, to his surprise, sees both Maggie and Dante engaged in sex. He awkwardly leaves, catching their attention. Maggie gets changed and, despite Dante saying she has nothing to be ashamed of, leaves. Moss, Richard (January 26, 2011). "A truly graphic adventure: the 25-year rise and fall of a beloved genre". Ars Technica . Retrieved December 13, 2012.a b Cronin, Brian (October 22, 2017). "Comic Legends: Was Walking Dead Going to be Night of the Living Dead?". Comic Book Resources . Retrieved October 23, 2017.

It wasn't perfect, no - in my opinion, perfection seems an impossible goal for something that lasted for more than a decade and a half, but I digress - but its ending was pretty damn close. Did it suffer from some of the same stilted dialogue as the rest of the series? Sure. But did these undercut the emotional beats of its resolution? Not for me. Not after so much time, investment, and love. Did its characters shine, did they grow, did you believe in them, feel for them, right up until the end? I know I did. The original pitch for the comics was a follow-up to horror legend George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. But, it was suggested to develop an original concept that spawned the modern story we know and love today. Two years have passed since the war with Negan. Civilization has been rebuilt and the communities have established a successful trade network. Carl moves to Hilltop. A new group arrives in Alexandria, and they meet the imprisoned Negan.A Whisperer accuses Lydia of being a traitor and she tells him she doesn't want to live like an animal before killing him. A worried Sophia asks Brianna about Carl's whereabouts, and she tells her that he helped her and Johnny out before apologizing. Mercer attempts to assuage the group's frustration by explaining that even though the community has a few bad people, the sheer size of it means you don't see these people often. He further explains that they all know that worse could be happening than being slapped, but Michonne interjects that this doesn't make it right. Mercer agrees, and cites this example to Siddiq as one of the reasons that the soldiers may need to "blow off steam". Siddiq uneasily agrees.
