Cronan the Goblin King is the primary antagonist of the third season. His mother is one of the Five Sisters of Legend. Cronan wishes to rule all of Elvendale, as well as the human world. An elf is a mythical creature that appears to be human in nature, but has magical powers and does not age (or at least ages very slowly). It appears that elves have their origins in Germanic lore, but they are also commonly found in other European folklore. In −9839 DR, the First Serôs War began, pitting the elves and the merfolk against the sahuagin of the eastern waters. The war lasted six years and destroyed the sahuagin kingdom in the Trench of Lopok, [57] and while the sahuagin continued to skirmish with the other races over the following century in a desperate attempt to prevent it, the Sharksbane Wall was completed in −8938 DR. This trapped the majority of the sahuagin in the Alamber Sea, a southeastern branch of the larger Sea of Fallen Stars. [58] The aquatic elves and other races ruthlessly hunted any remaining sahuagin, and by −8000 DR there were none to be found west of the wall. [59] Aquatic elves were extremely isolationist. There were some aquatic elves who did not even know that the surface existed, let alone a whole world beyond it. [7] Even other underwater races were generally kept at a distance, regardless of alignment. Aquatic elves fought fiercely against evil races and did not see the point of mingling with their shorter-lived neighbors even if they were of similar alignment. [3] Ergot poisoning has been suggested as a cause for the dancing plagues of medieval Europe. Ergot, however, causes loss of motor control, not continuous coordinated movements. A historian named John Waller studied the phenomenon and concluded it was most likely mass psychogenic illness caused by intense stress. As cause of the stress, Waller cites the unrest of the times – harsh winters, famines and strong supernatural beliefs – including the belief that Saint Vitus, if angered, would send a dancing plague upon an unrepentant people. Sea Elves are generally distrustful of other racesand will typically hide away from them. Many races do not respect nature and the seas and are often seen as destroyers. While other Elves might view Sea Elves as being a bit “wild” and “unrefined”, they are not savages and are simply knowledgable of those things outside of the typical book learning you might observe from a High Elf for example.Aquatic elves would sometimes take in water genasi children to raise, although in general the genasi secretly pitied the elves for not being able to leave the water for long periods. Water genasi who served Deep Sashelas sometimes worked as emissaries between aquatic elves and their surface cousins. Aquatic elves had stories of planetouched aquatic elves (similar to water genasi) descended from servants of Deep Sashelas, but there have been no recent examples of such people. [51]

They have slender features, pointed ears and are mostly hairless other than their head. Sea Elves are those Elves that chose to explore the depths of oceans and seas rather than the realms above. In doing so, their bodies have adapted to be capable of breathing both air and water and Sea Elves are also excellent swimmers able to traverse equally as comfortable on land and in water. Protected Eyes. Aquatic elves have nictitating membranes that protect their eyes from the water in which they swim. You cannot be blinded by gases or liquids that reach your eyes and you have advantage on saving throws against Blindness. Aquatic Elf, Deep Cultural Traits Aquatic elves have formed three distinct community groups based on which bodies of water they choose for their settlements. There are sea aquatic elves, who take to the open seas, lake aquatic elves, who prefer the more isolated freshwater bodies inland, and the deep aquatic elves, who dwell entirely in the darkest reaches of the deep ocean. Each develops distinct cultural traits of their own, as listed below. Ancestral TraitsWhenever you finish this trance, you can gain two proficiencies that you don’t have, each one with a weapon or a tool of your choice selected from the Player’s Handbook. You mystically acquire these proficiencies by drawing them from shared elven memory, and you retain them until you finish your next long rest.
