Description

Oh dear why did I do this? I began this series many years ago and have invested countless hours reading the eight large tomes that comprise the Seven Sisters. I actually enjoyed the first two or three as interesting, easy reads - pure entertainment. However, for me, the series deteriorated as it progressed so that the last two books were absolutely frustrating, full of overblown stereotypes, plot holes, and some poor writing. All of that said I still held some affection for the basic premise, the original idea that obviously underpinned these novels. In November 1936 we meet a boy called Bo, who is studying at the Leipzig Royal Conservatory for Music with his girlfriend Elle, and his friends Pip and Karine. Bo is a quiet and well-mannered musician. We know very little about him except that he is called Bo after the cello bow he takes with him everywhere. If he is Pa Salt and the same French orphan, that makes him 16, which is young, but not completely unheard of for students and the Conservatory at the time. The hints pointing towards him being Pa Salt include: Pa Salt [steps out from his study]: “Oh, I thought you would ever ask! And since you’ve finally thought to ask, would you also like to know what I did before I got you, what I do now, how I made all my money, who the love of my life was, who my friends, colleagues, and enemies are, and how I’d planned to tell you all of these things if you didn’t ask?” With over 200 people now joined, hopefully together we can pull together a giant list of questions and theories, and start using our collective insights to predict what comes next. If you just want to lurk, that's also fine - I'll just keep talking to myself!

You already had one, didn’t you, you naughty girl. That man bought one for you. There is so much sadness in the world... Ay,’ This book broke my heart and I had to put it down as the tears rolled especially for Pa Salt as a child and his experience with love. He also has a arch enemy on his trail… Initially, I was thinking that James McDowell may be Pa Salt. I suspect he is in the story for a reason - no other character present for such a short time gets as thorough introduction as him for no reason. He doesn't match Pa Salt's description, but could he be relevant to the story for another reason? You could definitely feel which parts were written by Harry, and which were beautifully crafted by Lucinda. I'm so glad she was able to write certain passages before she died. I feel like Harry's editor could have helped tweaked a few lazily written parts. Hola, señor,’ Angelina smiled her brightest smile. ‘I see hand?’ she asked in English. ‘Then I tell you about your daughter.’

What are the other books in the Seven Sisters series?

Putting it all together, and strongly speculating here, I think that Pa Salt (a.k.a the little French orphan / Bo / Mr Tanit / the ice-cream man) lost his wife (Elle / Mrs Tanit) at some stage between 1944 and 1951. At some point within that time, she gave birth to a daughter, putting the daughter at age 56-63 in 2007. We don't know Marina's age, but could she be Pa Salt's daughter? It doesn't necessarily fit with the timing, given we would expect Merope to be the youngest. Pa Salt also said to Maia that he never expected to bring the 7th sister home, so that theory requires some more work. This man fits in with the timing, as well as the general description of Pa Salt, and his own brief mention of how he met Tiggy’s relatives. A boy is found, moments from death, and taken in by a kindly family. Gentle, precocious, talented, he flourishes in his new home, and the family show him a life he hadn’t dreamed possible. But he refuses to speak a word about who is really is. The history story in The Pearl Sister has a big time skip from 1929 to January 1949. Again, the setting is in the south-east parts of England, where Kitty is about to take a boat from England to Australia. Before the boat departs, there's a man that matches Pa Salt's description searching for a woman matching Elle's description.

We last see Bo and Elle on 8 April 1940, where they are discussing leaving Bergen with a fisherman who is headed to Scotland. They could, should have had one of those shallow talks with the guy, pulled him in a group hug and forgive him. That would have made a way more satisfactory end. Paris. A boy is found, moments from death, and taken in by a kindly family. Gentle, precocious, talented, he flourishes in his new home, and the family show him a life he hadn't dreamed possible. But he refuses to speak a word about who he really is. There was so much anticipation and emotion throughout this book that I truly felt as though I was one of the sisters hunkered down reading Pa’s story upon the Titan… to say I was engrossed would be an understatement. One of the things I most enjoyed about this book was reading the interactions between all the sisters and their plus one’s. It is one thing reading about the interaction between one or even a few of the sisters at a time but I found it particularly special and fitting for this final book.Pa Salt’s story is a disappointment. I had expected more from the man. I mean all he did was receive an enormous inheritance from his granny which turned him into this superrich dude. Not his own hard grafting whatsoever. An what did he do with his time? All he seems to have done is travel all over the globe collecting a score of babies. People seem to hand over babies to this guy like there are no rules for adoption whatsoever. Tearing infant twins apart? No problem. People give up children for adoption like it’s absolutely nothing all over the place. Maia seems to have had no problem with giving up hers. I think it would be perfect if you could read these books one after the other in succession. I didn't have the time for that, I have too many other books for that. But I did appreciate that the authors give enough information along the way to jog your memory. the Aegean. The seven sisters are gathered together for the first time, on board the Titan, to say a final goodbye to the enigmatic father they loved so dearly. However, following the trend from the previous two books, we would expect Pa Salt to feel some sort of affection towards Flora - from what we’ve seen, she neither rescued nor had a relationship with him beyond being his employer. Perhaps he was just impressed by her drive to get the best for her children, no matter what? A magnificent ode to the most magical things in this world that can transform our lives: family, friendship, kindness, generosity, and relentless hope.

Paris. A boy is found, moments from death, and taken in by a kindly family. Gentle, precocious, talented, he flourishes in his new home, and the family show him a life he hadn’t dreamed possible. But he refuses to speak a word about who he really is. I originally posted this on r/books, but now this sub exists, it probably fits better here. There are spoilers throughout, across all 5 books, and a lot of speculation, so read at your own risk! According to this article: https://www.mindfood.com/article/luci... Her son Harry Whittaker whom she had co-written other books with, will finish the 8th book, of Pa Salts story that Lucinda had started writing. She was apparently battling cancer, and knew there was a chance she could not finish the book herself, so she told Harry the secrets of the story and where she wanted it to go. It is set to be published spring of 2023.

Who is Pa Salt?

Atlas: Historien om Pa Salt spænder over et helt liv med kærlighed og tab, krydser grænser og oceaner og leder serien om De syv søstre mod en fantastisk, uforglemmelig afslutning.

No spoilers here! We do know that Pa Salt is the elusive and adored adoptive father of the seven sisters. The series has gradually revealed tantalising clues to seven sisters' heritage and origins, culminating in this eighth and final book. To get to the bottom of who Pa Salt really is, you'll have to read Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt. We promise that all will be revealed and you won't be disappointed. What is Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt about? As he grows into a young man, falling in love and taking classes at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, he can almost forget the terrors of his past, or the promise he has vowed to keep. But across Europe an evil is rising, and no-one’s safety is certain. In his heart, he knows the time will come when he must flee once more.

Sure it’s fiction. It’s a modern fairytale. But oh, boy is it badly written. Shallow characters, unrealistic dialogue, an often ridiculous storyline.
