Occasionally, the information we receive through our psychic senses is completely at odds with our rational mind. Our rational mind has been trained to think and act in a certain way by various social institutions. We have all learned appropriate modes of behaviour from our school, family, workplace and society at large. Furthermore, we have been taught about the things that society holds valuable, such as a 'sensible' job, a house, a car etc. We have perhaps been taught that our psychic abilities are nonsensical or flights of fancy. Some people believe that the more you show the ability to work with and handle the spiritual information and skills you develop, then more is revealed to you. This has certainly been the case in all areas of my life. But there is a difference between doing more in terms of hustle and pushing things (as taught in our current existence) and staying committed and disciplined in your spiritual idea’s, practices and disciplines. You don’t have to work harder; you have to become wiser and stand by what is in your heart and soul with conviction. Clairaudience or "clear hearing", is usually defined as the ability to hear the voices or thoughts of spirits. Some mediums hear as though they are listening to a person talking to them on the outside of their head, as though the Spirit is next to or near to the medium, and other mediums hear the voices in their minds as a verbal thought. [84] In my own experience, I have times in my life where I don’t feel like I’m doing too much spiritual work, or not growing spiritually and these bouts of ‘spiritual inactivity’ have lasted a few months to a few years. Just when I think I’ve lost interest or passion for my spiritual life I’ll suddenly develop new skills, figure out new information or realise how much I’ve grown when it has seemed that things have been quiet. Grossman came to the conclusion that Braude did not do proper research on the subject and should study "the art of conjuring."
