About this deal

Chase Original Potato Vodka is distilled using a copper still, providing the purest tasting vodka ideal for a refreshing martini. Everything about Chase Original Potato Vodka is homegrown; even the bottle is finished by hand. On The Nose Special variety potatoes such as King Edward, Lady Claire, and Lady Rosetta potatoes are used for making Chase Original potato vodka. The potatoes are peeled, heated, and then mashed, with yeast added to aid fermentation. Drinks Geek is run by Andrew & Ingrid, two drinks enthusiasts with 30 years of experience and an all-consuming passion for both fragrance and flavour. The rhubarb bouquet then intensifies into a freshly baked rhubarb crumble on the palate, with a well-balanced tart and sweet finish. Best Served These peels and then steeped in the potato vodka for 48 hours. After the maceration, the spirit is then re-distilled. In the botanical chamber of the still they hang Egyptian cotton pillowcases stuffed full of orange peel. The vapours are passed through the chamber, which provides the final product with more fresh orange flavours.

The Chase family started out as potato farmers, growing potatoes for many big-name supermarkets. However, this did not give them much enjoyment. Personally, I prefer my Martini stirred as shaking will simply dilute the drink too much and it will bring out the vermouth much more than I like. If you do choose to shake yours, I would suggest trying it with a little bit less vermouth than you would normally use when stirring. Of course, if you are a fan of a more herbal Martini, then perhaps you ought to try shaking. The ageing process enhances the bittersweet flavours and introduces smooth oak and dried fruit, making this beauty lean more towards a cognac than a vodka. On The Nose They longed for more customer interaction. The decision was made to move into producing something of their own, crisps. Many successful years passed as the producers of Tyrell’s Crisps but they kept wondering what next for the humble potato. It was at this point, around 2006/07, that research into potato vodka began.

I used the remaining tomato flesh to infuse some dry vermouth in the same way as above. This can also be used to create a less tomatoey version of this Martini (see below). Palate: The palate offers up plenty of spice notes - a mix of pepper, star anise and nutmeg. Very tasty, and very creamy too. Williams, Holly (15 March 2015). "The family behind the Tyrrells crisps brand has found a new use for its potatoes - artisan vodka". The Independent . Retrieved 26 May 2016. The Chase Distilleries have retained a limited amount of their zesty Marmalade Vodka. They then matured their marmalade vodka for a long four years in used cognac casks and created masterful limited edition vodka. Opens with rich bitter orange peel and hints of dried fruit, oak, and crisp grape mid-palate. A long and feisty finish of bitter orange and sweet grape. Best Served The vodka is marinated by the Seville orange marmalade then redistilled with Valencia orange peel for the full spectrum of orange!

The unusual step of maturing the vodka in oak adds a depth of flavour which marries the bittersweet flavours found in this premium sip.

Chase Original Potato Vodka is an award-winning potato vodka that is already near-perfect! But, Chase distilleries took this excellent spirit, smoked it with English oak for seven days, and brought a new taste sensation to the world of Chase vodka. Their distillery has the tallest rectification column in Europe, possibly the world. [2] Company history [ edit ] The outcome is a clean and earthy vodka with mineral undertones and a buttery mouthfeel. An ideal vodka for a Martini! Vodka Martini

Chase Distillery is known for its field-to-bottle process when it comes to spirit making. The potatoes are grown at the family farm and it takes 250 potatoes to produce one bottle of Chase Original Potato Vodka. These potatoes are first peeled, then mashed and turned into sugars, before being added into the fermentation tanks for around 36 to 48 hours. First, they take the peel from Seville oranges and steam heat them in a pressurised environment. This piece of equipment is something you would be more than likely to find in the perfume industry, but it does a wonderful job of creating the marmalade flavour of this spirit. Smale, Will (8 February 2016). "The potato farmer who swapped bankruptcy for making millions". BBC . Retrieved 26 May 2016.Have you tried Chase Original Potato Vodka? Which one of the above recipes would you most like to try? Chase Original Potato Vodka took top honours at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2010. A panel of thirty judges blind tested over 249 vodkas and placed Chase Original Potato Vodka first, beating top vodka producing rivals from Poland and Russia. Conclusion
