About this deal

Well-balanced, velvety smooth taste. Complex notes of dark brown sugar and island spices (nutmeg, clove and cinnamon), vanilla bean, cocoa, dark honey, caramel and oak. Hints of English toffee, dried fruits (especially Sultana raisins, dates and apricots), dark bitter semi-sweet chocolate and a nice heavily steeped tea finish.

Demerara. The word alone is infectious. It’s derived from the Arawak language, meaning “river of the letter wood.” It sounds exotic. It is exotic. Demerara is a place, as well as the name of things related to that place. It’s a region near the wild coast of the tiny South American nation of Guyana, founded by the Dutch. It’s also a river and along it are fields of sugarcane lined with canals where herons and egrets wade. The air is sweet smelling. It smells of tropical forests, as well as the sea. The company produces Diamond Mineral Water, Quenchers Juice Drink and has been producing top-of-the-line Fruit Jams and Jellies, and the well-known Three County Fruit Mix.Some 40 farmers who currently supply fruit to Demerara Distillers Limited’s TOPCO juice operations are eager to increase their cultivation of required fruit to meet the company’s ability to in turn increase its supply of a range of juices for local consumption and for export. This is as TOPCO has embarked on a multi -billion dollar expansion project which would initially require over two million pounds of fruit annually.

El Dorado 12 year old: I prefer this over El Dorado’s better known 15 year old. It’s clean, smooth, and easy to drink and doesn’t have the price point of the 21 year old. Shifting from a commodity-oriented to brand-focused business, the company diversified into the beverage industry. Today, DDL is the leading producer of non-alcoholic beverages in Guyana. The company serves as the bottler for international brands such as PEPSI, Seven-Up and Slice and is the producer of its own range of carbonated soft drinks under its SOCA brand.Boo Loo— Gold rum, Demerara Rum, Jamaican rum, Pineapple juice, Lime juice, Club soda, Honey syrup, Pineapple

Demerara ( Dutch: Demerary, [ˌdeːməˈraːri]) is a historical region in the Guianas, on the north coast of South America, now part of the country of Guyana. It was a colony of the Dutch West India Company between 1745 and 1792 and a colony of the Dutch state from 1792 until 1815. It was merged with Essequibo in 1812 by the British who took control. It formally became a British colony in 1815 till Demerara-Essequibo was merged with Berbice to form the colony of British Guiana in 1831. In 1838, it became a county of British Guiana till 1958. In 1966, British Guiana gained independence as Guyana and in 1970 it became a republic as the Co-operative Republic of Guyana. It was located around the lower course of the Demerara River, and its main settlement was Georgetown. White Rum is seemingly the most simple and yet in reality the most complicated of terms. Aside from the obvious – i.e. it’s a clear spirit - ‘white’ is pretty much one of the most useless guides to how a Rum will taste. Sweetdram adds various botanicals to a base of aged Guyanese rum including macerated lime leaf, chamomile, cardamom, fennel, grains of paradise and fig. Demerara is also a name tied to sugar, an extension of which is rum. Specifically, Demerera signifies the rum of Guyana, of which many call as the world’s best. Demerara rum, as you might expect, is produced on the banks of the Demerara River, just outside of Guyana’s capital of Georgetown. All Demerara rum is distilled in Guyana, regardless of where it may be aged and bottled. The rum is derived from sugarcane grown along the banks and is distilled by the last remaining Guyanese distiller, Demerara Distillers Limited, or the DDL.

Taking this rather brilliant advice, a really simple rule of thumb is as follows (and don’t forget that most rums will actually be a mixture of rums from different regions): Watson’s Demerara Rum is a unique expression of the diverse culture and heritage of Guyana, a country located on the north eastern coast of South America. It is produced using a special blend of dark rums sourced from across the country, including those aged in oak barrels imported directly from Venezuela and Suriname. The result is a smooth, full-bodied rum with intense aromas of molasses and caramel. Its flavor is complex yet balanced, offering subtle hints of toffee, spice, and sweet smoke. Demerara Rum is a style of rum made in the former British colony of Guyana, located on the northern coast of South America. It is produced using traditional methods and has distinct flavor characteristics. The name ‘Demerara’ comes from an Amerindian word meaning “river of sea”, referring to the large river estuary on which the capital city of Guyana is located. Here we will try and give you a rundown of rum and what you should be looking for when buying the best rum for you.
