About this deal

My almost new, highly praised (double priced) Canon G5 X mk II was already listed for sale on the net (at half the price I had paid 2 months before) because of dull, phonelike picture quality.

Fujifilm has included 4K Burst mode in the XF10’s drive options. When this is selected, you can shoot at 30fps and then extract the stills in-camera. I like my X100's a lot, including with the WCL, as far as image quality. How do you find the X70 compares in actual use (street, social)? Are you happy with it, or do you find you wished you had used another camera? With a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, a wide-aperture prime lens equivalent to 28mm and 4K video recording, Fujifilm's XF10 compact camera appears to promise a lot for its meagre asking price.

As standard, sensitivity can be set in the range ISO 200-12800. If you don’t mind sacrificing the ability to shoot raw files, the range can be extended to include ISO 100, 25,600 and 51,200. Alternatively, there are three customisable Auto ISO settings. The XF10 can take great images, but operational quirks significantly dull the experience of shooting with it. I have theXF10 and use it daily, I feel it’s image quality is close to my X100V. A very beautiful image tinybeast The 3 small cameras I had shared some features, of which number one was to be built around an excellent lens. They also shared a zoom, but this was not among my requirements. Putting it simple there was not any offering of a fixed lens compact (except Ricoh).

Engineered to have precise, responsive autofocus, creating images with XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR becomes instinctive, near-silent, and accurate. Lightweight focusing elements snap into place with the help of a high-precision motor, easily keeping subjects pin-sharp and reliably holding focus on them, even if they are moving within the frame. Simply create images as you see them and have the freedom to find the story in any moment. DPR's sample pictures are not very appealing (colour, framing, etc), so it is difficult to get excited about this camera. Snapshot modes on the XF10 or GR series, and zone focusing in general, assume that 1.) you're good at estimating distances, and 2.) you're okay with images that aren't perfectly sharp. If you think of it as a specialised tool for specific situations, its limitations – no viewfinder, a fixed rear screen, a fixed focal length lens – become less important. Verdict

Cult following or not - if the camera has exceptional IQ, IBIS (or lens-based IS - whatever they decide to do), RAW capabilities, and a good enough touch screen - then I'll strongly consider it. The last time I've used a Ricoh camera was 1968 (during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam with the Marines) and that camera held up well and it was a joy to use. Fuji insist Acros only works on certain sensors so I haven't really tried adding it in C1 or LR to cameras that don't have it.I have an x100T and a much smaller RX100. I probably won't get a x70/xf10 because it's so similar to both. But, I would love the smaller form factor.

The XF10 feels solid and very premium. Good weight and balance. No complaints here. Menu RICOH GR II has extended lens when powering on. Here the XF10 is winner. If it is an everyday or support camera I prefer the XF10 to the X70, but any of the two will suit you. The most striking thing about the Fujifilm XF10 is its compact, slim body – a big advantage over interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras. The lens does extend slightly when you power up the camera, but only by 2-3mm. The Fujifilm XF10 is thin. On top there is a mode dial, function button, on/off switch, exposure dials, etc. This is a photo with the lens extended. That’s pretty much as large as this camera is going to get. You can charge but can you turn on the camera while it is connected to the battery? I want to connect xf10 to a battery( external battery, powerbank) and I want xf10 to operate with that power connected. If you’re curious if this or the RICOH GR II is better, honestly it is so close I would say there is no difference. Both are very strong cameras. All simple cameras are good. XF10 and RICOH GR II Don’t seek the “best” camera, seek the most simple camera. Try to use the simplest tool possible for the job.
