Description

To apply the roll, ensure the wound is cleaned thoroughly to remove any debris or foreign bodies. Ensure the shape and size of the primary dressing is applicable to the area of the body that it is being applied to. Once the primary dressing is in place, the gauze roll (of appropriate size and shape depending on wound size and location on the body) can be wrapped around over it, fortifying the wound as it serves as the secondary dressing. Take care not to touch the wound, as this may aggravate it. Secure the gauze roll in place. Changing the primary dressing and the gauze roll on a frequent basis is recommended. Some wounds that expel a lot of blood or other fluids such as pus may saturate the primary dressing and subsequently bleed through and soak into the secondary, gauze roll dressing. If the gauze roll gets wet or soiled, it should be replaced with a fresh roll as soon as possible. If the wound is expelling high volumes of blood or fluids and the dressings in place appears unable to manage it, medical assistance should be sought after. When selecting a type of gauze, consider its intended use. If it is needed just for simple padding, then plain dressings may be sufficient. If infection prevention is important, then impregnated varieties should be chosen instead. The range of gauze rolls offered by AdvaCare come in a plethora of different sizes and shapes to apply to any wound located anywhere on the body. All sizes of gauze rolls are very similar in price. Wound dressings: Non-woven gauze is often used for sensitive or delicate wounds as it minimizes trauma to the wound bed during dressing changes.
