I was inspired by the diversity and uniqueness of Marylebone,” he says. “The area really does feel like a village. The people and business are proud of where they live, and there’s a strong culture of helping each other. We wanted to be a firm part of the local community.” Piccadilly, home of the Royal Air Force Club and 'home from home' for all our much loved Members & guests. As an adult, he moved there himself; he had a mews house just off Montagu Square for nearly a decade, absorbing the atmosphere in the last scrap of central London that still feels like a friendly little village. When it came time to make his own name in the gin world, he looked to his adopted home for inspiration.

Settle in the indoor lounge or venture out onto the wrap-around terrace and enjoy views of the London skyline while downing your beverage of choice. DJs provide endless entertainment from their treehouse “fort.” Mayahuel In the end, Johnny settled on Pleasure Garden Distilling Company as a name for his venture, and 13 elegant botanicals to go into his flagship gin. These combine to form the refined liquid in the beautiful blue bottle that you unwrapped in this month’s Gin of the Month box. And what a liquid it is. His latest creation, is Marylebone Gin– a deliciously floral and citrus led gin, made in small batches to a pretty healthy 50.2%. Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals is one of the quirkier bars in the area, sporting an original drinks menu that – true to its name – goes big on the botanical theme.Master of Malt: It seems like you’ve got distilling in your blood. The finished liquid is then bottled in a stunning creation of vibrant cobalt blue, inspired by fine Bristol glassware from the 18th century.

One of London’s most luxurious neighbourhoods, the area is well-known for boutique shops, quaint pubs, celebrity spotting and unmissable chic restaurants. Halewood subsidiary The Pleasure GardensDistillingCompany created the new Centenary Edition gin with lemon balm and sweet orange. The bottle design features the RAF Clubs logo.

We're delighted to announce that we have a brand new Club Gin, and what could be a better gift in time for Christmas? You could say I grew up on gin,” laughs Johnny. “I’m descended from Thomas Greenall, who founded a brewery in 1762. Our family started distilling not long after, and my father, his uncle and my great grandfather all worked for the company. There’s a fair bit of history there.” Looking for the best bars in Marylebone? Marylebone might fly under the radar as one of London’s drinking spots, but it boasts a wealth of cool bars if you know where to look. He says, “I would like to make sure that I adhere to the principles of the past, but also look to the future, and to exploration and innovation. I want to play around with different flavours and techniques, be it distilling in different vessels or using different materials. But most importantly I want to create high-quality, bespoke products that people really enjoy drinking!”The JJ Whitley range is more about my great grandfather, who was the son of a vicar, so he used to spend a lot of time in vicarage gardens around Cheshire and Lancashire, so we were looking for hedgerow and garden flavours. Johnny Neill, founder of the Marylebone Gin brand and the man behind Whitley Neill Gin, said: Ginhas always been well enjoyed at the RAF Club, so it seemed only right that we should recognise this celebratory year with a commemorative spirit. But while his family’s long history of distilling and a swish central London location – not to mention a daily audience for his distilling efforts – would put an unbearable amount of pressure on some, Johnny Neill is more than ready for the challenge. In fact, he’s thrilled to be on this amazing adventure. Palate: The palate brings some floral and perfumed qualities with angelica, heather and Parma Violets with piney juniper and orange peel in support.
