About this deal

Chrissie and Reacher then make out in her car, when they encounter the Son of Sam, a serial killer who killed couples making out in cars. Son of Sam couldn't see Chrissie and leaves, but not before Reacher gets a good look at his posture and mannerisms. Reacher hitches a ride in Texas. Carmen, the driver, is a mother of a young girl and is trapped in an abusive marriage. She requests Reacher's help. After some deliberation Reacher consents. However, at her remote ranch in Echo County Reacher encounters lies, prejudice and hatred climaxing in Carmen being arrested for the murder of her husband. With Carmen's true motives cast into doubt, Reacher finds himself investigating the truth.

Thanks! I didn’t think of the book as a character introduction—after all, this is his seventh appearance––but it seems to be working that way. Reacher is an interesting guy. He’s a self-reliant ex-military cop. He has no possessions, no commitments, no family. He enjoys his solitude, but he worries about loneliness. He’s brave, for sure—like many military people are—but more than that he’s committed to doing what’s right. That’s an important part of his character. He’s tough and ruthless and he breaks the rules, but his heart is in the right place. First-time readers will see that in the very first chapter of Persuader––here, he’s hunting a man who wronged him ten years ago. Not a smart move on that guy’s part.Temperance Brennan is being investigated for the murder of a reporter who was re-opening an old suicide case that Reacher investigated. Included in MatchUp, a collection of co-authored short stories by male and female thriller authors (Lee Child and Kathy Reichs). Better Off Dead: When Reacher is out for a walk in the hot desert sun when he comes across a Jeep that has crashed into a tree with its driver slumped over the wheel. The woman isn’t dead, thankfully. Have you read the latest one, Better Off Dead? If you told me Lee wrote the entire thing I’d believe you. Feels like a really old school Lee Child book and I’m really enjoying it. Reminds me a lot of Persuader. Reply Forget about solving all these crimes; the signal triumph here is (spoiler) the heroine’s survival.

Yes, I can picture Caviziel in the part, although he is a tiny bit shorter, but miles closer than Cruise! Mind you, that’s a low bar! Reply Even before Reacher does the what-we-thought-was-unthinkable, Child hooks the reader right with the opening lines: There are numerous actors that would better fit Reacher’s dimensions… but I’m not sure any would have Tom’s presence. I’m not Tom’s biggest fan, for sure. But more often than not, he does what he does quite well. ReplyI am saddened by the change in the Reacher book series. I eagerly looked forward to October each year just to get the new release so I could see what my buddy Reacher had gotten himself into. Culminating the story arc extending from 61 Hours, Reacher makes it to his destination in northeastern Virginia: the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th MP. On arriving though, Reacher finds out that the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner, has been arrested. Soon he too finds himself taken into custody, pending the trial of two crimes he allegedly committed while he was in the army. Reacher and Turner set out on a journey; Turner in hopes of clearing her name and Reacher to prove the charges fraudulent or if true then atone for them. In fact, his fortress is something of a prison, too, and it becomes clear that he answers to someone else.
